Those plugs made a big difference starting it up . The more i'm learning about these old tractors the better. I changed my M's oil yesterday and added some zinc and Prolong to the oil . I went to pull my disc that had been sitting for about 15 years and the M couldn't even budge them . I stood the front end right up in the air trying lol. I got to get new hoses to raise it up . I was able to bring up my plow from the woods at least . Trying to see what i'm going to need to plant this year . Thanks for sharing !

Excellent video Gino :) on your 1949 Farmall H basic model is your 6 volt positive ground with generator or updated 12 negative ground with 12 volt GM Delco Alternator in and my dad always changed Spark plugs, wire plus cap with rotor and points in Spring before Summer and Fall Seasons after Combine used for Summer season and after combine all grains done ! Plus engine oil plus filter also air filter and fuel too it was gas model ! He never like breaking down it made made and but new stuff give them Farmall a big boost and lots boom 💥 plus fresh life ahead too !

Woke thinskins? That's awfully polite toward them! Your H sure runs nice when you get good plugs. With the way the old ones were, it's amazing it started at all. That coarser throttle will help a lot. I'm amazed they didn't use a friction throttle on the Farmalls from the factory. The W-4, 6 and 9 series tractors had friction throttles and they always stayed where they were set.

That square notched throttle is much better than the "sawtooth" one. The little "t pawl" that fastens into the throttle handle is also replaceable when it wears out, although it's a bit pricey for what it is. Personally, I prefer the M&W friction style throttle assy. Just so happens I've got one of each style on my M tractors. 🙄

Not sure why Dad ever bought that B he was a Red man had the first new Farmall Regular in our county that came on rubber from the factory. Now nice day I have to go check my H and SM to see which style of throttle I have guessing the M will have square but H probably the small V notches as think it's a mid forty model.

@Driston Petree : Hey, great catch bub... & yup, it sure did! She shot out a nice hot out of place spark to a nearby ground, which appeared to be from the coil's main lead to the distributor body. @Farmall Fanatic has got a bunch of problems beyond needing plugs. In fact, you can bet that other issues are what are causing the plugs to foul out... likely from random misfiring. I'll bet good money that those spark plug wires are junk, for one thing. IDC if he put them on new recently or not, and especially junk if they're the trash that Tractor Supply sells. (Been there.) The best way to test is to get her running, then take a water bottle & mist spray all of the spark plug wires & distributor cap. If there's any "spark leakage", you'll find it in a hurry. When wet, the engine may even start running like total crap from mis-firing, or even stall right out. Best to get some good quality aftermarket universal fit 7mm (or preferrably 8mm, as bigger IS better, in this case) SILICONE spark plug wires from Summit Racing or through your local auto parts store. I think I used MSD wires, but tbh, I don't exactly recall, as it has been a long time now. Make up your own custom wire set, & they'll perform great & last for many, many years. I did just that for a family friend who has a gas JD 4020 that had constant misfire issues. The quality wires fixed it, and it's still running great a decade later. The plug wires that the Deere dealer offered were just as trashy as the terrible Tractor Supply ones. Poor man's tip: Buy some silicone spray & soak the plug wires & all electrical on the outside. Let air dry, and repeat. Silicone spray helps repel moisture away AND it helps keep spark from arcing externally, where it's not wanted.

I was just wandering, a former ag teacher, who also the red power president for Texas at one time, said there is a difference. If you were going to use it in a parade aftermarket parts were fine, if you were going to work it use genuine IH parts, at one time he had over 80 tractors. Different brands.
