I pretty much grew up on my uncle's tobacco farm. I worked the summers from age 8 or 9 until our last crop when I was 15. My uncle had a 4440 Deere. I always thought that was a monster of a tractor and I never did drive it. These videos are so cool and bring back memories.

What a great looking classic JD outfit! Thanks BTP! He’s giving that older horse a workout! We own a 4450 mfwd and it’s been one of the best tractors on our farm...it’s my favorite sounding tractor out of all of our 10 John Deere tractors. We used to pull a 6 btm in furrow plow, 26’ field cultivator, bobs equipment 56 bean combine, but now it’s on lighter hay duty in the summer...baling with JD 338.

Good video. I think a Deere is the best tractor you can buy. I feel bad for the farmers now, even worse than usual. Diesel is so high. A friend just finished planting his first crop of the year. He told me it cost twice as much this year as last for the fuel. It can eat hard into your potential profit to have an expense double from one year to the next.
@bigtractorpower2 жыл бұрын
It is most unfortunate at the huge cost of inputs in farming this year. Hopefully it is a shorter term problem on fuel costs like it was in 2008.

I have always liked 2wds and would like to find some more of the last generation high horse power 2wds like the John Deere 8225R and Case IH MX220. Having fwa is a handy feature. FWA first started to gain popularity in the 1960’s. Oliver was a big marketer of FWA. The Farmall M was the first tractor I can think of to offer it going back even farther. It really was not until the 1980’s with the John Deere 50 series that FWA really took off and then the Case IH Magnum line increased seeing more and more fwa. A big 2wd still had a following through the early 2000’s for TMR feeding and baling. By 2012 2wd was dropped to the 7200R only and today the largest 2wd from Deere is on the 6R. I hope to film a range of historic and more modern 2wds to make a history video on the topic.
