The early 2000’s tractors are pushing on 20 years old now. The 9020 tractors have a good strong sound from their engines.

This old girl bring back great memories especially it nearly made green LOL. I was operating 9520 pulling Finch 38T chaser bin for harvest in Queensland. Definitely different operating to CaseIH Steigers, big cabin compare our 9370, control arm was great feature with electric spools, this tractor made long days easier. Definitely one John Deere tractor I would have next to CaseIH tractors.

Very cool. I like the 9220. I have a few 9220 videos here on BTP. I like John Deere tractors with double model numbers like 4440, 8440, 8330, 9220, 9330 etc….

The 9520 is 20 years old this year. When it was new 450 Hp was top of the line now it is mid sized.

The 4455 is a nice tractor. You may have noticed on the opening clip this farm has a 4055 planting with a 12 row 20 inch planter right behind the 9520.

Probably got half the price of the tractor invested in rubber. Them forestry tires are salty but wear like iron so probably even out in the long run. One nice thing about a mulcher over a lot of finishing tools is you can flat haul the mail of ground condions allow.

Cultimulchers sure do make a nice seed bed. I got going a little too fast with mine this past fall. I need to replace two rollers.

On our farm we have a 1996 jd 8970 with 2260 original hours. We pull a 45 ft cultivator and a case 730c ripper. We also have a case in 9370 that pulls a 19 knife anhydrous bar in spring and a 7 shank ripper in the fall. Also have a Steiger pta280 with the cat 3406 that pulls a tile plow.

I think a lot of farmers go overboard on their seed bed prep, IMO. I see a lot of top soil being blown off of overprepared fields all of the time because of overfarming where I reside.

Central Wisconsin has a sandier soil. It works up nicely. Most likely this field had a primary tillage pass and this mulcher is the secondary pass to firm up the seed bed.

not to mention the loss in all important moisture every time the soil is turned and exposed. it seems, if i didn't know better, just for looks. considering the effectiveness of herbicides and chemicals it seems unneeded

Joe these are not an LSW. They look like an LSW 1250 but these are forestry tires and have a side wall where LSW does not have a side wall.

The price that fuel is for this year going to be expensive to till the soil that much unless its a HIGH value crop.

This is vegetable canning crop country. A good clean seed bed is very necessary for production.

That would be a good topic. A lot of it has to do with soil conditions and types. Where I live most farms run triple tires. The farmers feel in the red clay soil here triples tie the power to the ground better than duals or big singles. In other regions other tires may work better.

The only thing I didn't like about this one is how short it is. Get a drone and add some footage like Farmhand Mike does. Your videos are awesome, drone footage would take them up a whole other level.

The Tractors at Work videos like this one are part of a series of 5 minute videos I post each Friday. 80% of this video is drone footage. This video and the other videos in this series are tractors that were not able to be filmed for the extensive time I normally like to get with ground, drone and in cab ride along footage. Rather than not share the footage at all I started using the footage in this shorter format. In the case of this 9520 two passes were able to be filmed and then the tractor was done for day as you can see at the end of the video the tractor is driving off out of the field.

With a Pulvimulcher you do not have to lift. When I run mine I just lift the center tines and make a wide loop to keep stress off the rollers.

Those brillion pulvimulchers have been popular here in wisconsin for years. Make a great seedbed and push down rocks. Gonna miss Brillion if Landoll phases it out

I think the Brillion Pulvimulcher is here to stay. Landoll had its own cultimulcher and it was phased out of production shortly after the Brillion acquisition in favor of the Pulvimulcher line.

we run a Johndeere 8650 (85) with 650/65-38 duals. and a Väderstad carrier 650. or Kverneland Maxxer 8000 for seedbed preparation.

30ft is about as big as a Pulvimulcher goes. There is a 36ft model that tops the Brillion line. I own a 30ft Case IH cultimulcher and my 370 hp tractors knows it’s back there when I open up the tractor.

@@bigtractorpower YesI agree with you but the length of the implement is far too long with each succesive piece going back does very little. There would be a lot less of unnecessary passes over the ground with a wider and shorter cultivator. All the best to you and I always enjoy your excellent videos.
