My Father was a crew chief on a C 47 in the Paciic theatre. He left basic on a troop train for California then went to Douglas and watched his plane being built then He and the plane left for Australia on a WW1 Liberty ship. He served on every dot on the map in the Pacific. His commandind officer told him if he would re-up for three more months he could muster out as a Master Sgt.... Thank God he didn't because a month after he came home his plane went down . RIP Dad... truly the greatest generation...
