MOUSE DAMAGE! Watch This Before Buying Cab Tractor!

Mice are SOOO aggravating and destructive. They found their way in my 4 series cab tractor underneath my right hand console behind the hydraulic controls. Even so, I’m still going to keep my cab tractor ;-). Blessings.

I've seemed to have good results from putting peppermint oil on cotton balls strategically placed in my camper. Also using "Rodent Sheriff" which is basically peppermint oil I'm pretty sure. I also have some friends who have multiple cars in sheds who spray their carpets down with "Rodent Sheriff" several times during the winter and that keeps the critters out. However I will say "I Hates Those Meeses to Pieces!"

Next time, try some Odoban in fresh linen scent. Get a gallon. Works great and disinfects, also a great softener in your wash. Works miracles on old towels and any fabric.

I pulled the headliner completely out of a 9560 RT 4 times before I finally figured out where the mice were getting in the cab. On that tractor they were getting in a hole behind the seat. Steel wool stuffed in the corner posts works good to keep them out as well.

I drove my wife to the hospital in early November for thumb surgery. While she was in i was outside walking around when I thought I would open the hood of my truck. After raising the hood I noticed by the top of the radiator tray a mouse nest. Nobody was home. But I know they like to get into the heater core area. I put a mouse trap but haven't caught any. I'm driving tomorrow to town and probably run the heater to see if it smells like pee. I see where people who own cabbed tractors use a bucket with peanut butter on a roller or something so the mice fall in and can't get out

Bounce dryer sheets placed throughout the cab is supposed to keep mice away I use them in my classic trucks and don't seem to have any more problems worth a try

My father and i keep Birds we didn't want to but we had to put down poison bait stations they're not expensive but keep the rodents under control

On my Kubota the 4 black tubes that hold the cab is open at the bottom. The mice climb up it into the head liner. I have pushed steel wool up them to stop the mice from using it as a highway. Also have had mice get into my air filter and chew it up. Have secured steel screen over the inlet and that has stopped them from getting in. Have heard that if they chew the wires in the head liner if costs thousand's to have repaired.

I had mice in my brand new Kubota cab’d excavator. The made a nest in the foam of the seat back. The only thing that got the smell out was bleach. Ammonia does not work. The bleach did not fade the black fabric of the seat cover. I put moth balls and Grandpa Gus’s pouches and they seem to be working. 🤞

I suspect the tan headliner is a result of the older cabs that were not as tight as today's versions. Black shows dust!

I just got two mouse traps from good nature on Black Friday. I put one in my trailer and one of my garage and I’ve caught three so far. And I thought it was mouse free. Bluetooth and it let you know when you catch something

I had them pee on the linkage of my additional hydraulic control unit until it was rusted solid. Save your self hours of work and WD40 trying to get it to loosen up only to replace it anyways. So an inspection is indeed a good idea 😂 Greets from Germany 🇩🇪

I keep moth balls and peppermint oil in vents and in cab at all times and spray peppermint oil every time i use tractor. Dirt dobbers the hornets who make the mud nests are the main issue. What’s the part number on that mount? Great channel and info. Thanks

Moth balls are worthless. I used them under the hood of a car that was stored outdoors and the mice stockpiled their acorns right along with the moth balls. Not to mention the awful smell can never be removed from your anything...house, clothes, seat, carpet, headliner, etc.

The new shop should get a heated floor. From experience, it is nice if you have to lay on it or even standing on it. My in floor heat in my shop stays at 55°. I have a secondary forced air heater that is used for raising the temperature quickly. if needed. I find that I rarely end up using the forces air heater.

I have seen the previous shop update videos. I thought Tim had mentioned that he wasn’t going with infloor heat because he was concerned about the long heat recovery time if the doors were open. That is why I have two systems. The infloor heat is the main system and a smaller forced air unit is only used when you need the quick heat recovery. I will say, it is very rare I even work in the heating season with the doors open. The warm floors are nice to work on and make the decision to keep the doors closed even easier. They get opened for quick ingress or egress. With heat rising, a forced air unit has to heat the entire upper air volume before you can ”feel” the temperature change. Being in central WI, we probably have a bit longer heating season and colder temps though.

@@jasonnett9972yep. You are caught up then. Floor heat appears to be very expensive, especially since I would need to have concrete pumped in over the piping. Also, I have sweet deal for forced air hvac. Can get at dealer cost and free install from neighbor Chris. I just spent $30k for Hybridheat pumps. 5 ton, 4 ton, and 2 ton. This is 6275 sq ft. …with most of it 18’ tall. I may be making mistake. If so, many of you will be able to say “I told you so”!

I was laughing when he was roasting time on not being comfortable in a cab with bad ac....... yup, he's never had to run an old 70s-80s white or John Deere that had a cab but no ac.... in the winter at -10*f you have the door and back glass opened if the sun is out and strip down to a shirt..... in the summer you have everything that opens open, stripped down to birthday suit and between the sweat and heat from sun through the windows and heat from the tractor rear end, hydraulics ext you literally can't breathe and vision is not much different than being drunk.

Yep. A/C quit on our 4880 Massey Ferguson when I was in high school. I told the two bosses (Dad & Uncle) that I was done. I parked it. Found that it was a $4 circuit breaker.

Place some Bounce clothes dryer sheets on the headliner before you put it back. Mice hate the aroma. Be glad you don’t have red squirrels in your building. They are really destrucive. They love to get into my shed and store nuts in the engine bay of my lawn tractor. One chewed the lower corner of the battery during the winter and the acid drained all over the engine bay. I had another build a nest in the engine bay of our SUV overnight. The nest caught fire while we were out running errands with it. We now have a bald eagle in our neighborhood. It liks to grab fish from our lake. I wish it preferred rodents 😊

Dryer sheets are a myth, they lose their scent over time then become the foundation for their nests just like blue rags. In my experience that happens around the 1 month mark Best solution is wherever you park cars, trailers, tractors, etc set a bag of moth balls on the ground by each point of contact (tires AND the jack on trailers for instance) and set traps outside for sure and inside for long-term storage

My mileage varies greatly with bounce sheets. I’ve used moth balls with some success in my detached well pump house. I have used “Bounce” brand dryer sheets with great success. I started using Bounce when the gal up at the RV and Boat storage place caught me putting moth balls and a couple traps in my 34’ travel trailer. She said she had seen all kinds of techniques over the last 20 years and Bounce is the best. For three years put a few around the trailers floor (a few in each area) and not a single mouse or even sign of mice. The trailer smells fresher too!😀. Nothing anywhere near the pump house. My issue with poison has always been mice dying in hard to find or get to locations and fear of pets eating poisoned mice. Maybe it’s a regional thing on effectiveness.

Mouse damage? You have cats! If the cats won’t do the job then get an exterminator. I have a class A RV, a car, and a 1025R cab tractor in a pole barn. The pole barn is not finished off inside so critters can get inside. I’ve never had any mouse damage. They feed on the bait boxes both inside and outside. It’s well worth the expense to have an exterminator come out four times a year and service your property. Just sayin’.

An ozone generator works to get rid of the smell and is rather deadly to any rodents in the cab. It's safe with the cats since they can't get in the cab while you have it running. Rodents can get into the cab in so many ways, I just use the ozone to "delete" them and get rid of any urine and ultimate body smells.
