Great Video Mr. Stoney. I'm kicking back watching you on the big screen from my recliner. What you said about cleaning the battery terminals is correct. It is more than cleaning its bonding. You got crap between the clamp and the post and it is causing resistance. Gotta pull off the clamp and clean the clamp and post as you described. Antifreeze does taste sweet, good stuff. It not only lubes stuff but is semi self sealing. As it leaks it forms crystals when hits the air and evaporates. This allows minor leaks to be spotted early before they become major. I think that spot on the belt you are looking at is just dried antifreeze. The best way to clean off antifreeze is soapy water. Brake clean is for cleaning oils not water soluables.

Josh I have had to replace the ignition switches on my 1992 New Holland and 2002 Kubota. Same Problem that the switch is very loose in the hole. Having installed hundreds of key switches in elevator car stations where I had to make a new hole. Or install a new switch in an existing hole. Would find sometimes who ever installed it drilled a round hole. They should have used a D shaped knock out. So Using a serrated tang washer and some two part JB weld around the switch on the back side. I could fix a loose fit on a key switch. That D shaped knock out is awful expensive but can be found at McMaster Carr. Few would use it enough to warrant buying it. The serrated tang washers any locksmith should carry.

Man I relate to this video so much, it breaks my heart to see nice equipment sitting outside. I have the same problem you have I need more space! No matter how big you build a shop it’s never big enough. Hopefully you can build an equipment building next to the mega shop for good out of the weather storage. You need your shop space for working on projects and building that living quarters. Anything of value needs a roof over it and walls. Taking care of stuff is so expensive but not taking care of them is even more expensive. Also this is a prime example of why I work on all my stuff myself. It gets overwhelming at times keeping up with maintenance and all but at least it’s done right. Love the channel *Wooo!*

Here is a tried and true tip to protect any battery from corrosion. Corrosion is caused from evaporation of the electrolyte around the terminals. If you take two part epoxy and seal the area around the lead post as it goes into the battery, you will never have corrosion on the terminals. The crap you spray on the terminals or grease dabbed all over the terminals will in time dry out. The epoxy method works. When you ride a motorcycle and in the past the old batteries were bad about acid on the pain, you learn how to stop that problem.

I replaced our switch twice and both time the switch was loose fitting like yours. i used two plastic washers. seems to be doing just fine. 2800 hrs on ours. clutch time soon. not looking forward to that. as for the battery clamps, they suck. I loosened ours up and put a scree in the gap and tightened it. that was two years ago. seems to have fixed it. I have a set of lines running up front as well for the snow plow and blower. I need to get the skid steer buck adapter so i can use the bobcat graple.

The best battery isn't just a favored brand. It's what is recommended by the specifications of the vehicle's manufacturer. Some will say get the highest Cold Cranking Amps. The vendors use CCA to sell batteries. What about Reserve Capacity? Oh there is so much more! Recently I went to a major auto parts store to get a battery for my 5.7 Tundra. The guy told me it was $192 dollars. I asked about the warranty and he boasted 2 years. I said "no way". I informed him my Bosch battery lasted well over 5 years. I called the Toyota Dealer. They quoted $150 and offered a 7 year warranty. I bought it. The Bosch battery was heavy, but I think the Toyota True Start was much heavier. It didn't have a handle making it a pain to install and come to think of it harder to steal. I threw it on a 10 Amp charger to fully charge it. It took awhile. My truck seems so much peppier and smoother running. It's like all the electronics are happier including the transmission.

Once it fails I will buy a big ole interstate, as big as i can fit under the hood without obstucting the radiator and it will go into a custom made battery tray to keep it from flopping around. In this one video you blame fourteen problems on fourteen other people - never yourself. You're such a victim!! You even blamed the corrosion on the battery tray on the lime truck!!! C'com Josh!!!!
@StoneyRidgeFarmer10 сағат бұрын
buddy....things don't just break themselves.....cause and effect. I didn't install the battery....connection failed, I didn't install the switch....loose and working poorly......I didn't spread the lime.....Lime truck would start the darn spreader before they pulled into the pasture lol...you should see the pile of lime at the other gate....I'll bet there's 1000 lbs of lime outside the gate. My brother....if folks use common sense and considered what the next guy might have to deal with....then most of these problems would totally be avoided. I think ahead....to the next guy, next year or next time I might have to use or work on something. It's common sense in my book....and the lack of common sense in this world is destructive. If the lime truck started slinging lime in the pasture...it wouldn't be all over the tractor, if the fella that installed the battery would have tightened in right and put some anti corrosive on the battery....the tractor would have started.....if the guy that put in the switch didn't slap any old switch in there....I wouldn't be fixing it. It's called intellect, pride and common sense my brother.....and often times we both probably run into preventable problems, had the person before us used intellect, pride and common sense. Just like yesterday's vid fixing the sawmill....if I'd used common sense I wouldn't have ruined the electric motor....we all screw up. Just makes for good videos right? lol
