The audience did not know she was going to be on until her face came up on the big screen in the concert hall. That is why the audience starts to clap then really goes wild when they realize it is her.

My teeth just about fell out of my head when I realized it was Tracy on stage. Her and Luke Combs just owned that room. Best Grammy night in a long time between this and Joni Mitchell.

Just a little trivia tidbit: Tracy Chapman has become the first black woman in history to have solo songwriting credit on a number 1 country hit because of Luke's cover of this song. It was so nice to hear her voice again after these many years. I loved the respect and admiration in this performance.

Trivia tidbit: Tracy Chapman got 3 grammys for this song 34 years ago and she didnt need him singing it for anything. He needed her song though.

I loved Tracy from day one, and this was the icing on the cake. So wonderful. I'm not a country fan, so didn't hear of him until Fast Car went up for a grammy - he was really likable here, and I appreciated his voice. Glad you reacted to it!

Out of the blue, this performance (no matter how many times I watch) has been the most uplifting musical experience in a long time, for all the reasons (below) and today again (thank you) by the warmhearted reaction of Patrol Nation so similar to mine...Tracy's smile, the duet voices, and how the room lit up, with all of us that night. Just love the mystery of why it's all so emotional.

Chapman's so radiant and her voice is complete bliss. Not to detract at all from Combs; his voice is like a good whisky. Smooth but punchy, easy to drink in but still hits all the notes. Between the pair of them this is easily the most beautiful collaboration I've seen and there's been some absolute doozies for sure. What a treat this was.
