Almost impossible to say how good McGrady was due to his injuries, but based on what I saw, Pippen, while not as explosive offensively, was so bloody well rounded that he was probably the better player...his D, his playmaking, his rebounding, his leadership...esp in the locker room, even his bball IQ, all make him the perfect partner for someone like Jordan. Probably would've been a great sidekick to Kobe too.

McGrady was an amazing talent. His classic one man gang comeback vs. the Spurs is one of the most incredible sights I've ever seen in the NBA. I'm not saying he was better than Pippen. It's nearly impossible to compare the two. He's 14 years younger than Pippen and, though similarly sized and both wing-type players, they played in different times (slight overlap) and had different roles. McGrady was a franchise player and Pippen's prime will never fully be understood because he's a top 50 player who played as a second option. In their days, both were freak athletes! It's hard to believe McGrady is only 38. He went pro young!!

Hey it's no different than Presidents and cabinets writing on the truth way after it matters...This is good info for NBA geeks. The Bulls organization were arrogant assholes when it came to how they viewed their management/ownership vs players...you'd think they were relevant before and after Jordan. They really think they made championships happen... The T-Mac trade would have disrupted a title for sure, but probably was best for the future, but Bulls brass killed their future and let 1-2 championships go by not bring that team together again...the lockout didn't help tho

Michael Hargest looking back at it, they probably should have done it. They don’t win the 98 title but you build in 2000s with tmac. Jordan and Phil were already out the door. Lets say they win a championship. Fast Forward and ofcourse jordan would really retire by this time 2008 Tmac, Crawford, Chandler, brand and if all would've stayed and be healthy. plus Derrick Rose.
