That was a very thorough walk through of the biogas system you gave Tracy. I'm getting ready to buy the boigas system with the biogas toilet plus two of the upgraded burners to go along with the system. I am getting ready to build what some prepsteaders refer to as a tiny home with a detached 1,000 sf workshop and a greenhouse to grow all my fruits, vegetables, and herbs. All operating on solar power. Think Moringa for good heath and long life with a little tumeric, garlic and ginger to spice things up.

idealy, you should put your matt black biodigester tank indoors or under a large south-facing window to remove the need for electricity. To make it more "low-maintanace," perhaps a chute straight from the kitchen with a manual valve fed through bicycle brake lines and an overflow tank to store the fertiliser could be implemented. To cut the cost of building your own, use a large plastic barrel/drum painted matt black, you needn't spend on a sulphur gas filter, as you can remove both sulphur and carbon dioxide simply by bubbling it though water. I hope this helps anyone looking to make their own biodigester 😊👍

This product is being offered up as a "do things better at home!" kinda product, but it seems really best applied to houses where one wouldn't need to go through the design of a way to get the gas to one's stove inside the house. Yes, this works fine for your what-looks-to-California weather where you can cook outdoors, but it wouldn't seem to work well for a good majority of the US. (I laughed when you talked about your "cold weather" in February as you're dressed in a tank-top for the video) :) None of the videos that I've seen address the decomposed food matter part? At what point does that bottom tank need to be emptied, how often,, and how does that happen, please? Thanks for the review.

wow really awesome! could you tell how much bacteria should be used for a kg of food scrap?
@0900McShizzle4 жыл бұрын
Thea Theng hard to pin point on the correct amounts but it’s recommended put in a lot of livestock manure at the start. This manure has natural occurring bacteria from the animals digestive system which will kick start the gas production process. Bacteria should naturally multiple inside the digester in the presence of adequate water (ratio of 1:1), food matter and warmth. It helps to periodically add manure and keep the digester warm to maintain optimal conditions

Could you heat a tiny house with one of these?
@MoanikaLewinsky6 жыл бұрын
The average production of gas, per day, of one of these units it's about 3.5 hours of normal cooking based on a 2 burner gas stove, so to answer your question, I believe if may NOT be sufficient gas production to heat a tiny house around the clock!
@donkmeister6 жыл бұрын
In short, you need to do the maths. It isn't an easy question to answer. It depends upon: 1) What seasons do you intend to heat your tiny house 2) Where is your tiny house 3) How much heat input does your tiny house require 4) How efficient is your tiny house heating system? For example, if you want to heat a badly-insulated tiny house in Siberia over winter, you will need a greater rate of gas production than if you want to heat a well-insulated tiny house in Morocco over summer. The other factor is the gas production rate is tied to the ambient temperature - the digester will generate at a lower rate in that Siberian winter location than at the Moroccan summer location.
@samkom336 жыл бұрын
Jesse Cole it depends of a ton of factors,, for example climate, size of your digester, and so on.. but if your alone i guess you need a well insulated house... but if your a big family- big biogasplant and ore you have a little farm and use all the manure-poop both from people and animals-+ food they dont eat and all other organic matter, you can produse a lot of gas-fertiliser. hehe

COULD THIS RUN A GAS HEATER
@kevinlane12197 жыл бұрын
If this can use horse manure, can it also use cow manure and humanure?
@HomeBiogas17 жыл бұрын
you can use any animals manure.. in terms of human waste, HomeBiogas has never tried running human waste through our system. Theoretically, human waste would produce gas, just as animal waste would. However, human waste contains pathogens which can spread many diseases. The biodigester effluent or discharge is NOT sterile and therefore would not be suitable as fertilizer and would need to be disposed of properly.
@kevinlane12197 жыл бұрын
Fascinating. I appreciate your input. But what of the biogas? If it were stored in a pressure vessel or gas cylinder, then could it be run through a portable electrical generator?

@louislouchart4667 жыл бұрын
Methane is an important greenhouse gas. Are you looking for an other way to dipose exceeding gas ? Nice work btw !
@HomeBiogas17 жыл бұрын
Hi Louis! Thats why HomeBiogas is a tool to capture the methane and use it, instead of letting it emit into the atmosphere. Unfortunately, if you dont use the gas in the system, the excess gas will be released to prevent excessive pressure
@louislouchart4667 жыл бұрын
Thx for the quick answer. I guess every user needs more energy than he can produce alone thanks to his biowaste. So everyone must be able to use efficiently all the gas produced by your system and do not waste it.
