Tracy Smothers has some incredible stories about the territory days. Big names and lesser names both have a moment to shine. I hope that he saved enough money to have a decent retirement. I haven't heard many stories about him being too crazy so there's a chance that he's well off now.

BTW since Vince killed the business alot of guys had to work wherever they could get work and Smokey Mountain had a great show that was way more entertaining then that crap that's on today. @Frank Burjan He was trained by an old school catch wrestler that use to go to time limit draws with Verne Gagne and Lou Thesz if that tells you anything. Also probably why he takes protecting the business so seriously. So while Billy Robinson could out grapple him, Dr. D wasn't completely helpless out there.

@Frank Burjan Not really but he went thru the same training as Dr D, getting stretched and beaten and being unable to walk after Herb Welch got done w him,. Schultz said that Herb told him he was the all time favorite he trained, sounds like they were both a lot alike.
