"Dr. D" David Schultz discusses Bret Hart, Dynamite Kid, Junkyard Dog & Bad News Allen while wrestling for Stu Hart in Calgary.
Schultz would also work for both AWA (American Wrestling Alliance) and the WWF (World Wrestling Federation).
Dr. D says that Stu Hart was his favorite promoter and has a ton of respect for the late-great legend. Schultz also wrestled Stu's sons Bret Hart & Bruce Hart as well as other territory stars like Junkyard Dog & Bad News Allen.

Yes Sir. Seen David Von Schultz he was called in the Maratimes and what a heel. The Dr. And Killer Karl were my favorites I even remember when Randy and Leaping Lanny Poffo had their run in AGP they stole the show. SAVAGE was an excellent heel and he could work the ring but Schultz was just a huge legit heel. The only baby face I respected was Leo Burke

David Schultz was the Steve Austin of Stampede Wrestling in the early 80s. He wrestled like a heel but the fans loved him. He left Stampede in 1983 for the AWA. The he followed Hulk Hogan to the WWF.

While I'm sure Schultz was/is tough, I am always skeptical of guys who feel like they have to tell you how tough they are and how they feared no man. I highly doubt Bad News Allen would have had any issues with him, had it come to down to it. In Bret's book, he mentioned Schultz and Hogan's relationship soured when they had a backstage wrestling match (not fistfight, just actually wrestling around in the locker room) and Schultz came out on the losing end. Hogan was not known for being a badass by any stretch of the imagination, so I do wonder how tough Schultz actually was. I've never heard that he tested anybody.

@@tedbundywastheultimatechad8400 He didn't insult Allen, you're right. But these little self-promoting bits are sprinkled throughout the overall interview. Again, I'm sure Doc was/is tough, just feels like the toughest guys didn't need to brag about it.

I couldn’t remember this story in his book but I just had a look and you’re right! Bret says it was a play-fight turned full blown scrap and Schultz eventually gave up, and that was when their friendship ended.

@@tedbundywastheultimatechad8400 if he insulted anyone it would have been Bret Hart. Making it seem like Bret fame was because of Vince and not because of Bret's abilities as a wrestler. Bret did more for WWF then the other way around. he was already popular in Europe, Africa, and Japan.

Evidently, Vince McMahon began giving Bret Hart "creative control" over his own character as far back as 1986. Bret told Vince that he would only do a job for Tom Magee if the match was untelevised. At the time, Bret Hart was a heel. That shows you how big Bret's ego was, long before he was given the World title push beginning in 1992. When I heard about Bret refusing to job to Tom Magee on TV, I immediately lost all sympathy for Bret concerning the Montreal Screwjob. Vince created the monster that was Bret Hart by capitulating to his demands early on his WWF career.
