Hi Tracy, Great video! Googling for 2-3 hours and could not understand stableford. Your video help me understand it in 10 mins. Can you also post a video or just discuss below how to calculate stableford for 9-hole round? Thanks a lot!
@golfmindplay10 жыл бұрын
Hi GolfGPS Caddie, I can certainly do that - however it should be fairly straight forward. If you play to your handicap you will have 18 points when you finish, that is, 2 points on each hole. Most courses do not reallocate indexes and often they are not evenly split between the two nines - so for example, you may get more allocated strokes on one nine than the other. The main thing to keep in mind is 'one shot at a time', don't get ahead of yourself and try to forget about the score until you have left the last hole and are adding it up.

Great video, but im still unsure how to work-out how many extra shots i get based on my handicap. You used some example handicaps during the video but what fraction are u using to determine that ?
@golfmindplay9 жыл бұрын
Christopher Hawksworth Hi Christopher. No fractions required with stableford scoring. To work out how many extra shots you get - use 0 or scratch as the base. That is if you play off scratch you don't get any extra shots. If you play off 9 you will get one extra shot on holes indexed 1-9. If you play off 18 you will get one extra shot on every hole. What is your handicap?
@christopherhawksworth96129 жыл бұрын
I see.. I think I get it now.. I play off 28.. so if I'm following - I will get 1 extra shot on each hole of the 18 , then an extra shot on holes 1-10? Thanks for helping. .

slide at 1:11 should actually read NET par. so a par hole where get a stroke means net birdie and score 3 points.

Thanks for noticing Geoff. In the bullet points I mention that this example is in relation to your handicap, I avoided using the terms net and gross, early on in the video, as stableford is confusing enough for beginner golfers. So it is correct. I'm pleased that it makes sense to you. And I have many beginners say how helpful it has been.

Hi Ian, yes Stableford scoring can be a little confusing - watch it a couple of times and then go and play a game and score using Stableford - it will all being to make sense.

Avoid blobs. Get more Pars than doubles! Easy isn't it? Well it's easy typing it in but a tad harder in actual practice!!! Played a stableford competition at my club yesterday off the white tees and scored 30. My hc is 18.3

I know how you feel - had a terrible day myself today - only 28 points! And cored greens , not playing for a few weeks plus 15 days straight of work with a 7am tee off - was a recipe for very average golf ! Take a look at golfmindplay.com/ to see if there is anything we can help you with. :)
