Yeah. Not specific enough. People trade the exact same pokemon you’re trying to trade on both trade codes. Have a brother and friend with scarlet and I have violet so it’s 3million times easier to trade like that

Anyone wanting the trade evolutions: It seems evolution trades are using the dex # of the unevolved form twice. I managed to get a Scyther to Scizor using the code 0260 0260, and a Slowpoke to Slowking with code 0324 0324. That said, there isn't many people doing the dex trades at the moment and it took me a couple times of "could not find a link partner" before it finally linked me with someone for both of those trades.

Yeah, until people started flooding the GTS with impossible trades. But still, the GTS is waaaay better than the system we currently have.

For those wondering, yes this still works a year later, though it's somewhat frustrating at times. I was able to get Scizor, Slowking, the other starters and all the paradox version exclusives in about 90 minutes (with short breaks). Trading my fuecoco for Quaxly was interesting though, I got offered about 10 other fuecoco's, a Magnezone, a Salamence, a Charmander, a Sprigatito (honest mistake?) and a few other things and dropouts before finally getting one. Also I had to retry for Scizor for maybe 15-20 minutes - the bug apparently isn't that popular. So be prepared for those kind of things happening. But yeah, it (mostly) still works!

Im working on farming herba mysticas so i came looking for a video on that. Found this... When he mentioned the starters i face palmed. Two weeks ago I spent hours surprise trading to get the other two starters. Got some other good trades but could have saved a lot of time. I was about to reach out to a group on discord for version exclusives but thankfully i found this. I wish i didnt miss this a month ago. Im usually up to date on vids.

This helped me immensely and I was able to get all the exclusives within a couple hours. Yes it’s going to take awhile but it works. Big shoutout to Mavf (might have misspelled it) who traded every paradox pokemon with me. Thanks for another great vid! A little tip I’ll give is to not immediately cancel the trade as soon as you have what you need. Chances are, the person you’re trading with needs additional exclusive Pokémon as well.

The first five non-repeat pokemon in a box which aren't registered in your trade partner's dex also glow and bounce, so if you put all your exclusives in a separate box it's easy to see what they still need to make this more likely.

Bit of a note if you are using link trade it will actually tell you what Pokemon your partner does not have. The Pokemon that they do not have will light up and start bouncing

I think there should be an updated code system where there’s 2 codes for every Pokémon like you did with the starters because people are only typing what they have on scarlet for what they want on violet so it’s always a double, but with the starters you can see what people want and type what you have as the code, but for others it’s only 1 code

(i'm focusing on playing my scarlet version game for now, my violet will be in a few more days from now on) my scarlet game dex is very close to 400 ! (392/400) I just need to farm candies by doing tera raids then I just need to fully evolve these 5 : Gulpin, Misdreavus (I already have another dusk stone, I just want her before evolve to learn a few specific moves before using it on her.), Clawncher, bagon and dreepy. oh then after that I will just need to finish collecting my 999 gimighoul's coins then evolve my own mimic xD . again thank you very much john and all the people playing SV ! One small thing that a lot people don't know, in the trade screen all pokemons that your partner don't have will flash with white background. If you see the pokemon you are trading don't flash it means your partner has the same pokemon as yours, so you can just quit. Saves a bit of time.

This is SO helpful! I really wish the "holding armor" code was different from the "Armarouge - Ceruledge" code, though, I've been through about 40 people trying to trade the actual pokemon instead of the armor.

I propose that once we get one of these hard-to-find scarlet exclusives we should breed one, and trade like two more. Just to help balance out the amount of people with violet. Obviously excluding the ones that aren’t breedable, but definitely not excluding quaxley

Version exclusive evolution items should definitely get their own code. For the sole reason that you can't breed the Pokémon to get your own trainer ID on them. In keeping with the current system I'd recommend swapping the two sets of 4 digits. For example Auspicious Armour for Malicious Armour would be 0167 0166.

Hey if you see this and want to help out, if you started with a Sprigatito or Fuecoco and end up looking for a Quaxly and get one, breed it 30 times and trade in the channel for your starter. It'll help free up some of the congestion for people looking for Quaxly. I've been breeding 120 a day and trading between both Sprigatito and Fuecoco at morning and night to spread the love around but I know I'm hardly leaving a dent. I waited 3 whole days before I got lucky, I'm hoping to spare others that tedium.

It's nice how specific trade codes for trading starters you haven't obtained/version exclusives exist so you can complete your Pokédex. Gotta give props to you and Game Freak. Wish this method existed in Sword & Shield. I oughta try this soon! Hope it all works out for me.
