Anyone wanting the trade evolutions: It seems evolution trades are using the dex # of the unevolved form twice. I managed to get a Scyther to Scizor using the code 0260 0260, and a Slowpoke to Slowking with code 0324 0324. That said, there isn't many people doing the dex trades at the moment and it took me a couple times of "could not find a link partner" before it finally linked me with someone for both of those trades.

For those wondering, yes this still works a year later, though it's somewhat frustrating at times. I was able to get Scizor, Slowking, the other starters and all the paradox version exclusives in about 90 minutes (with short breaks). Trading my fuecoco for Quaxly was interesting though, I got offered about 10 other fuecoco's, a Magnezone, a Salamence, a Charmander, a Sprigatito (honest mistake?) and a few other things and dropouts before finally getting one. Also I had to retry for Scizor for maybe 15-20 minutes - the bug apparently isn't that popular. So be prepared for those kind of things happening. But yeah, it (mostly) still works!

This helped me immensely and I was able to get all the exclusives within a couple hours. Yes it’s going to take awhile but it works. Big shoutout to Mavf (might have misspelled it) who traded every paradox pokemon with me. Thanks for another great vid! A little tip I’ll give is to not immediately cancel the trade as soon as you have what you need. Chances are, the person you’re trading with needs additional exclusive Pokémon as well.

The first five non-repeat pokemon in a box which aren't registered in your trade partner's dex also glow and bounce, so if you put all your exclusives in a separate box it's easy to see what they still need to make this more likely.

One small thing that a lot people don't know, in the trade screen all pokemons that your partner don't have will flash with white background. If you see the pokemon you are trading don't flash it means your partner has the same pokemon as yours, so you can just quit. Saves a bit of time.

Hey if you see this and want to help out, if you started with a Sprigatito or Fuecoco and end up looking for a Quaxly and get one, breed it 30 times and trade in the channel for your starter. It'll help free up some of the congestion for people looking for Quaxly. I've been breeding 120 a day and trading between both Sprigatito and Fuecoco at morning and night to spread the love around but I know I'm hardly leaving a dent. I waited 3 whole days before I got lucky, I'm hoping to spare others that tedium.

Version exclusive evolution items should definitely get their own code. For the sole reason that you can't breed the Pokémon to get your own trainer ID on them. In keeping with the current system I'd recommend swapping the two sets of 4 digits. For example Auspicious Armour for Malicious Armour would be 0167 0166.

Really great video but I also have just a quick tip for people. For pokémon like slowking and scizor that require trade, you can input the dex# for their previous evolution (for example if you want to get slowking you put in slowpokes dex# twice) into the link code similarly to what this video shows and find people who are also looking to trade. Make sure you have the evolution item on your pokémon and that you inspect the other pokémon’s item as well that way both of you will benefit. The more people who do this the better, so go and give it a try if you don’t have these pokémon already. Anyways, good luck trading!

For those who don't want to guess if they've got the right code: Scyther => Scizor: 0260 0260 Slowpoke => Slowking: 0324 0324 I used both of them and got the evolutions. Like Wyatt stated though, check the held items and make sure you'll actually give and get a Scizor/Slowking when you trade

Bit of a note if you are using link trade it will actually tell you what Pokemon your partner does not have. The Pokemon that they do not have will light up and start bouncing

I feel like there should be a slightly different trade code for those wanting the Auspicious Armor or Malicious Armor only. I think there should be an updated code system where there’s 2 codes for every Pokémon like you did with the starters because people are only typing what they have on scarlet for what they want on violet so it’s always a double, but with the starters you can see what people want and type what you have as the code, but for others it’s only 1 code

love the trade codes... but I am disturbed by the lack of Quaxley's out there. think another mentioned that they are like shinys now. as I have tried for a while now and while I have gotten cat and croc can't get duck. I picked Fuecoco in Violet, and Sprigatito in Scarlet now I sort of regret the cat because I don't have two switches so can't ship my flying pikachu to my violet game to restart scarlet to repick the duck. (also think I should have focused on my scarlet run of the game first but I did not realize so many were going to go violet first.)

Regardless I have already completed my living dex with the help of the scarlet/violet discord so it doesn't matter to me, but it would have been helpful for those codes to have been publicized along with the others, as I actually did try what that commenter recommended already while working on my dex and couldn't get a trade partner because they haven't been publicized the way that the ones for version exclusives have by AJP
