You've missed an important function of the BL (there's 4 and not 3 of them) - it's an evidence of the condition of the goods at the moment they were taken by the carrier.

I always find the wording confusing. What difference does it make, to refer to BL as "evidence of the contact" vs. "contract"? What could possibly go wrong if I treat it as contract between shipper and shipping agent?
@hustensaftvernichter37854 жыл бұрын
@@Mikevets The wording is laid out that way because the actual contract is made out before the transaction starts. Both parties have agreed to contractual commitments and all the B/L does is to make sure that both have met their respective contractual obligations. The point at which the actual contract is closed is whenever both agree on delivery of goods taking place and the actual purchase is effected. The B/L makes sure that the seller has done his homework and chose the right means of transport for the right time to fulfill the right conditions (Incos), previously agreed in the actual sales contract.

Does that contract has a specific name?

Is the bill of lading defined under article 21 of ucp 600 or article 20 of ucp600 ,i mean port to port shipment
@LukeIamYourFather944 жыл бұрын
Well the reason why 3 copies of bill of lading is one to be used by the shipper, other by consignee and the third for the bankers Actually an unlimited numbers of bills of lading could be issued say 5 or even 10 but the real reason why usually 3 are produced to control fraudulent acts and counterfeiting
