@claytrader7 жыл бұрын
Lots of stuff here - claytrader.com/blogs/trading-101/
@luke53987 жыл бұрын
I still can't find explanation to why the stocks work like this; I understand that when a company is doing well, their stocks go up because people demand them more - but why do they demand them more? If they receive no dividends, then there's no benefit to owning them shares, other than the pretense that it will grow because other people are going to invest.. But I can't understand why people would invest, other than with the same notion that others will invest as well..
@claytrader7 жыл бұрын
"other than the pretense that it will grow because other people are going to invest" Bingo. "That" is why.
@luke53987 жыл бұрын
But it makes no sense as to why that trend started - it's just a thing right? I'm guessing the top dogs told the bottom dogs that they should invest in the companies that are performing better, even though it has absolutely no benefit to them whatsoever, as it just sounds like it should be right?
@KobeBryantt2377 жыл бұрын
I think the bottom line is people will expect to get paid with dividends. So its still up to the company if the people gets paid

Hi Clay, As you mentioned in AAPL example that the company grows and it increases the revenue hence the profit, if this profit is not shared among the shareholder (dividend) why would someone like to pay higher price. And if investors do pay higher price ,does it mean that they are hoping for company to pay dividend one day? if share price increases ,doesn’t it imply that investor is hoping that some idiot will pay higher price than he did and cycle will continue?

If you invest 5 dollars in a stock and it doubles it value, you now have a stock worth 10 dollars. If that stock then loses 75 percent of its value you now have a stock worth 2.50 cents. You don't have any actual money, you just have a stock that is worth a certain amount of money based off of how good the company is doing and speculation from the market.

I don't know who needs to hear this, you've got to stop saving money. Invest some part of it, if you really want financial freedom.

So what I’m getting is as the company continues to make profits the shares increase in value and the increased value comes to you? Even without selling your stock?

Right.

So if I start investing $1,000 in good stocks and I let my stocks sit for years I can potentially come out with ten thousands of dollars 🤔

I understand how a stock becomes valuable. And forgive me I'm new to this, is it all just buy and sell all day every day? It seems like the only way to make money on a stock is to sell it after it increases in value. Do you then invest again when it dips in value? Is that how you do it? I'm having trouble understanding how you make money. What if you don't want to sell a valuable stock? i.e. S&P 500 increases 10% annually and you invest, at the end of that fiscal year you've made 10% on your money. So you keep S&P 500 but the following year it dips, do you loose the previous years10% gain? How does it work? Is your money hostage until you sell? When do you see the profits from a valuable stock? Can you pull money out w/out selling the stock and if so, how does that effect the value of your shares? Sorry a lot of questions. I just opened a Robinhood account and I haven't bought anything yet Lol. Ty for your video and your help.

I recently started investing in stocks but I'm not certain how many shares I should buy. I bought 2 shares of the Trade Desk which cost an average of $246.40/share. The price/share is now in the 800s. The majority of my returns comes from Trade Desk. I don't know much about stock investment. I know what a dividend is. I don't know very much about portfolio diversity.

So what would be the point in buying stock in a company that’s already big like apple from what you’re saying it sounds like you should be buying stock in smaller companies that you think will get big but from other research I’ve done I’ve read that you should buy in bigger companies since it’s more safe and they have a good track record is there any benefit in buying stock from big companies other than dividends?
