honestly I know u commented this in like 2014 but it applies because popularity often isn’t about being pretty but about being confident and obviously she’s very confident (maybe a bit too confident more arrogant ngl)

The one i went to never had a popularity thing, but until a pretty and very nice girl(yes unusual). Everyone looked up to her because she was 'perfect' well she had health issues, but she has a perfect personality. Kind and humble, plus pretty, but she's not tall. And mostly means girls doesn't really starts as a popular ones, just the jealous ones. One of her classmates started tormenting about being short and too kind/stupid. It drove her out of school and ended up in a hospital due to stress. No one did anything, but fortunately, the bullies never became popular...just 'normal'.

I can't imagine what it would be like attending a school like this. I love that at my school, the kids that play video games, the ones that excel academically, the straight edges, the athletes, the artistic and the otherwise "socially un-accepted" all hang out together.

I'm out of school for like 8 years now. But we never had such a great divide between popular and unpopular pupils. Actually I hung out with both sides , especially as we didn't have these stable cliques. Maybe it's different in the US (I'm German), or it's a generation gap. It depended on the individual. Who would want to hang out with mean people anyways.

in my school there is a pretty large group of people who have kinda put themselves in this place of being popular and then everyone else that is kinda something they dont care much about. but to be honest the "popular" kids in my school have personalities that arent really pleasing some of them i am friends with or can talk to and have a good conversation but a lot of them are air headed and conceited so if thats the kind of way people want to be to be popular they should realize that its really only the people in there group that like them and eveyrone else is just on eggshells and doesnt want to get on that persons bad side ya know

i'm really curious as to how some schools have got this whole clique/popularityVSunpopularity thing going on 'cause my school never had that problem. and from what i've read in the comments it seems like not every high school has this problem. so i really don't understand the mentality of the kids in this show. and i'm not just talking about the popular kids that bully others, i'm also talking about the rest of the other kids (whether unpopular or just a bystander) that let the 'popular kids' get away with the bullying.

people need to realize that what they do say has an effect on other people. just because we are not the same as you, does not mean we are the bad peope. just because we don't look like you does not mean we are ugly. i'm comfortable with who i am. if they have a need to pick on me, all that means is that they are uncomfortable with who they are.

I came from a small town with "old money"-- meaning that everyone pretty much inherited their wealth from elsewhere. It was probably as bad or worse than this. Ironically, the people I was worried about so much have it worse than I do. Getting knocked up right out of highschool and getting married, then getting divorced, and some of them have aged horribly. The sad part is that I graduated in 2009, and they shouldn't even be looking that old! I wish I could have seen the future.

I'm Canadian too, and yes I'm in high school. There is popular's if your looking at it in the sense of treating people badly, that happens every where; you might not even see it happening. Their just bullies and I know this because I've experienced it before, like many people have. Popularity does require attention, and they get that from being mean. Plus It's going to happen no matter where you're from.

When I was in High School what gave kids their popularity was how well known they were and by who they were known. I see a lot of comments on this video about how Tamara is 'ugly' or 'looks like an ape' or 'how is she even popular? She's ugly!' When it comes down to it, who she knows and who would stick up for her is what makes her "popular", and that's how it is in a lot of Middle and High Schools. For boys if five or more girls wanted to date them, they were considered 'popular'.

I love how Tyra owns up to being a rude girl in school, and I hate how Tamara wouldn't admit any of it. I know people who do EXACTLY THIS and it truly ticks me off. Just recently, a kid in my school got busted for bringing weed. The girl that told is actually moving schools because of how much hate she's getting, just because he was so popular. I mean, she was popular too! Just a few levels under him! It's so dumb. She's being teased for doing the RIGHT thing, not even looks.

One FACT I know of from what I consistently see in high schools, is that, usually (if not always), the popular kids are not really friends, they are just in cliques, and so they make FAKE friends who often talk behind their backs and pretend like they like one another when really they hate each other's guts. Why do these seem to be the common factors? Because most popular people are more concerned with trying to please others OUTWARDLY if it means being fake, rather than being themselves.
@SkylarPro
@SkylarPro 13 жыл бұрын
the problem is that even if one of those girls is going to feel bad about what they were doing to others in school,all of her friends won't suddenly change as well and i don't think they would like being told not to laught at someone etc..so she would have a choice - be 'good' or keep her 'popular' friends. and we all know what they're going to choose

I agree with this. Everyone judges people.. Everyone. Some are more rude and mean about it while others keep it to themselves. I've judged others and I'm not going to sit here and say I haven't. First impressions really do exist and I have said some mean things when I was in highschool as well but later on I made up for it and am now semi-friends with that person. The thing is it doesn't matter who it is, when someone says something like that it does hurt!

Don't be too scared. In my experience the popularity stuff dissipates in high school. Elementary and Junior High it was going strong but it died out in high school. I say when school starts do your best to take it in and enjoy it's existence in a way wherever you stand socially, because never again in life is it really like that again.(don't be too sad about that because life gets better!).
