The unpopular girl right next to Tyra, I applaud her. There was no reason for them to apologize to the Plastics. The popular girls just used the fact that they were called Plastics as an excuse to divert some of their blame on the unpopular girls, which is BS at its finest. And Tyra shouldn't force the apology from these girls. If I don't actually mean my apology, I ain't gonna say it. I mean come on, if someone actually has to coach me on how my apology should sound for it to mean something, I obviously am not saying it from the heart. Ugh, stupid mean girls.

This is exactly what my teachers do. Anytime I do something to somebody because they did something to me they tell me to say sorry! Like one time I a boy was being mean to me and I said, that's why you have an eyes booger! But the he flicked the booger in my face like seriously! Why do I have to say sorry when what he did was much worst and VERY disgusting! I'm never saying sorry to someone who deserves. If I really mean it i'll say it.

I totally agree with Brittany. She had a right to feel that way, I feel like the popular girls are trying to make themselves seem like the victims when they are clearly not. They have some growing up to do, they know what they do and how they act towards people is messed up and they are wrong. They just don't want to admit it, so to feel better they try to make the unpopular girls feel like the attackers. I caught that. There was no need to apologize to anyone, so Tyra overstepped her boundary in trying to make everyone apologize because most of the girls clearly didn't mean it. You see how many times she had to correct them. I like how Brittany kept it real and didn't apologize. So I applaud her as well. When that girl said she wanted an apology I raised my hand like I was really there. I wanted to cut that off so fast and call her out on that BS.

I have a very weirdly shaped nose and frizzy hair it would be my dream to be called plastic(as twisted as that may sound) although i can see how that could offend someone if they had not experienced the other side, such as felling very self conscious round pretty people and never asked out by any boys.

I'm borderline disgusted with the way Tyra conducted this. Haven't those 'unpopular' girls been through enough without being forced to apologise for pointing out the simple fact that the 'popular' girls are plastic?? And they weren't calling them plastic for enjoying fashion or being pretty, they were calling them plastic because they judge OTHER people for not matching THEIR standards of beauty. That's the definition of shallow. They can't make fun of people for superficial reasons and then have a hissy fit when someone calls them superficial. Clearly Tyra doesn't know what it's like to be bullied or made to feel less than in high school otherwise she would have empathised and shown compassion to the unpopular group. She clearly feels more of an affinity with the Tamaras of this world, which tells me she never truly grew out of being a mean girl herself.

THE UNPOPULAR GIRLS HAD NO REASON TO SAY SORRY. Why are they labelled plastics? Because their goal in life is to show every how pretty they are and how much people want to be friends with them. They're superficial and materialistic at a place where they should be LEARNING.
@brebre4ya1
@brebre4ya1 10 жыл бұрын
So? Does it really matter? Yes they like getting all dressed and wearing make-up and dressing to impress but them being called plastic? The unpopular girls don't want to be called names so they shouldn't be calling other ppl names, popular or not. Maybe it hurts their feelings? There is nothing wrong with wanting to look nice at somewhere you want to learn. People dress all fancy when they go to WORK, so why can't they do it where they learn? They did need to say sorry because how can you expect someone to give you an apology for saying hurtful things when you spewing it back. I wouldn't give those bitches an apology if they were calling me names, I wouldn't even feel sorry if they were talking about me to their friends calling me plastic and I'm pretty the unpopular girls have said more.

***** Unpopular girls like wearing things and doing make up and doing their hair, but they're downgraded because the so called "girls up top" make fun of their contribution. They've given them a superficial bar of where beauty is and tell everyone and show everyone that the people "beneath" them do not meet that bar.

There is so much more than high school, however I can tell you even though I stood up for myself in those days, it still doesn't feel good. Bullying will never stop in life, but making yourself become better in practical ways will definitely help! :)

I always agree with Tyra but not quite in this case! She indirectly forces those girls to apologize to others and obviously they don't mean it. Those popular bitches just use the "Plastic" thingy to prove that they're not completely guilty which they are. Those unpopular girls that say sorry are weak and not loyal to their argument! The Black and White thing Tyra says is wrong!!! The side that starts the conflicts has to be the one that says sorry, it's fine for the attacked side to defend and stand up for themselves, and it's totally non-sense for them to apologize!!!

Funny thing, most of the popular girls kept quiet, as if trying to run away from trouble. And, also, when confronted, they used as an excused that they were called Plastics, as if it could be compared to the others' problems. The popular girl next to Tyra even said all of what they accused her of was a lie. She apologized, yes, but it was fake as hell. This only shows popular people get away most of the times...

What happened during this point? Tyra made it worse and made it seem like it was the unpopular girls problems. Personal i think its bs how she made it clear that she thinks they don't have the power to make it change. Popular girls have the power and thats it!? PSSH!! She kind of stood up for the popular girls and was even interacting with them more then the other girls. I like Tyra but sometimes certain topics truly need more of a professional direction.

I agree with you! I got really aggravated with Tyra when she made the unpopular girls apologize. The popular girls were using the "you called us plastic" as an excuse, but it probably didn't hurt their feelings, and it definitely didn't hurt their confidence or self esteem and ruin their day to day lives the way that the things the popular girls said to the unpopular girls did. The populars didn't deserve an apology; they weren't even being hurt at all.

The problem with popularity isn't that someone has nice hair, skin, body, smile, personality, clothes, etc. It's when one uses that as a reason to belittle, or put down someone for not having those things, that it becomes an issue. There's nothing wrong with having nice things. However, when one convinces themselves that they are better than someone who doesn't have those things, that's when popularity becomes toxic. You have just created a world where the materialistic aspec...ts of life become the necessary fundamentals to survive socially, and that's not okay. We need to be accepting of one another. It's okay if you disagree with something someone does or has, but you can't say that makes you better than them as a whole. I've learned from my mistakes. Perhaps it's your turn to grow up. Popularity will only take you so far. High school won't last forever.

This "experiment' didn't work out as it was suppose to, because the "pg's" were way too prideful, because they were with their actual clique, making them feel somewhat 'powerful' and they weren't really put on the spot - therefore they wouldn't understand and they sugar coated everything they said/done causing the "ug's" to become angry (completely understandable, not completely necessary. DON'T LET STUFF LIKE THAT LET YOU DRIFT FROM YOUR ELEMENT), because they REFUSED to admit the truth and own up to their consequences. The sad part is that the ''pg's'' actually walked out believing their own lies, where they could've made their future lives sooo much easier. BECAUSE WHAT YOU FAIL TO LEARN HISTORY WILL REPEAT ITSELF.

Hannah Fung Here's the thing that confuses me though. Do they REALLY WANT TO EXPERIENCE BEING POPULAR? The "unpopular girls" are satisfied with themselves. They love and accept themselves for how they are and they are comfortable. I don't believe they really want to experience being popular. They just want the freedom to go to school with out being harassed. If those girls wanted to be popular they'd be making a more obvious effort. I'm not saying because they are who they are they don't want to be popular. I am saying that they are happy to be who they are already and I respect that.

To be honest, I've never been popular or unpopular. I've never been picked on but I've never led the biggest trends either. I don't think Tyra was being unfair... at all. You could tell she was trying so hard to get the populars to confess and apologize but they were to stuborn to do so. The unpopulars weren't doing much different. Although I believe the populars had more reasons to say sorry (plenty more), calling someone "plastics" isn't very considerate either. "Two wrongs don't make a right..." I don't think being popular is necessarily bad, just like Tyra said, it's all about how you use your power. I don't think being unpopular is necessarily bad either, your not in the spotlight and you don't constantly feel like your being watched. I think it's a matter of perception.

I think what Tyra did and the way she spoke about her past expieriences and fessed up was wonderful, she knows what she's done and she's grown from her mistakes; she's not ashamed to admit what she's done because she knows that other girls can relate and also grow from what she's talking about. In my opinion, I don't think ALL the girls called the 'popular girls' plastics due to their looks ; I think they were calling them that because of the fact that the 'popular girls' were bullies and the image associated with the description of 'plastics' generally reffers to being mean and thinking you're above everyone else. I can relate to a lot of this; the bullying in fact, I've got quite a lot of acne on my face, it's a genetic thing- I've tried a lot of things to get rid of it and they haven't worked- I get teased about it , and yes it does lower my self-esteem. I've got a few friends, generally a small main group but we stick up for eachother and dont back down no matter what- they're my girls and I WILL defend them, people tend to back off a lot after that.

I was never popular in elementary or secondary school, but it has brought a certain kind of strength to me. I am who I am, and I don't need to surround myself with a large group of friends or be obsessive about my appearance to have confidence. While there will always be the "haves" and the "have nots", and you will always encounter certain people saying mean things about others, your popularity in high school does not determine which group you will fall into. Just remember the golden rule.

And tells them that they might not be "hot and poppin" right now, and that they have no power. No wonder those girls get taken advantage of. Calling these girls plastics is no where near as bad as ALL the things these girls do. It's sad that bullying affects teenagers so much. It's such a good feeling when you get older and you realize how insignificant it all is, that popularity doesn't mean jack and that everything you thought was important when you were a teenager really doesn't matter that much. Once you get older and you get over all those things you feel like you could get along with anyone, you can walk in anyone's shoes that you want to be if you so choose. You just have to hang in there until you age up a bit.

When Tyra read off that list of things that the popular girl sitting next to her did, you can tell that girl did them because she had a guilty look on her face, but more in a way to where she thought what she did was funny. Then when Tyra asked her directly if she did those things, she denied it. I could tell by looking at their expressions, that most of those popular girls aren't going to change, and that they feel that they were justified in whatever it was that they did.

I completely agree. As sad as it may be, when there is someone who you truly believe is "lower" than you, who you believe is "wrong" or "bad" in any sense of the word, an insult from that person is a compliment. If we don't respect these people, their idea of bad becomes our idea of good. If a murderer says you're a terrible person, you would scoff at them. I would be shocked if the popular girls were genuinely offended by being called plastic. It empowers them; they don't deserve an apology.

the way school systems are really sickens me. they put up a front of no "cyber bullying" or bullying in general but do nothing when it occurs on the daily.!

Came here from TikTok because I wanted to see the whole thing and I thought there would be some change but there wasn't. The popular girls did not want to change and victimised themselves. These popular girls will now all be in their 30s and I wonder if now their feelings have changed and they express regret for what they did and have the same attitude that Tyra has. Some people may have changed but there will always be people who never change. That's why you end up coming across bullies at university and even at the workplace. There are some people that no matter how much older they get, they still have the tendency to bully people.

thats if you are with the right people...life is what you make out of it...and it doesnt just end in HighSchool...it contines on jobs and different people that you meet ...it will always continue even when you are laying on your death bed, it will always be someone trying to bring you down, but if you choose to be with the right all that negative feed will never be thrown at you! So tyra is right it never ends, your just the lucky one who doesnt have to deal with!

Tyra is definitely not being fair. She is basically putting down the unpopular girls and giving the popular girls more power. She's literally gave the popular girls an understanding that no matter how much pain they caused, theres always gonna be someone defending them.

Lesson i learnt: Dont let the so called "popular" ones shatter your confidence, shedding your tears over what they say is really not worth it. I believe people can change, and if any of those "popular" girls understood what the other girls felt, good for them.

It may frustrate you all, but she is trying her best. These girls are being very difficult, in both groups, but Tyra has just tried to push on and forward. She is being truthful and honest, and not feeding the girls words that they would like to hear. The "unpopular" girls are apologising because they're not the ones being criticised and getting the finger pointed at, they are more vulnerable and open to talking because they are the ones with the raw emotions from being bullied.

I have had my hefty share of bullying and ridicule, but if you show that you don't care what they say, they will leave you alone. Everything that people were telling me, definitely got to me. I wanted to skip school some days because I was afraid of what they would do to me. But I maintained that apathetic front, and after a while they just gave up. A bully's main goal is make themselves feel more superior. So, if you pretend like you don't give a damn, they will have nothing to feed off of.

Sometimes when you do something wrong, you try to convince yourself that it wasn't wrong or you didn't do it. And that is exactly what the "Popular" girls were doing. That way it will make them feel better about themselves. I know because I used to do this exact thing all the time, but once I finally realized it I can pick out when I do it. Someone needs to get them to understand that people do these kinds of things, because I still do it to this day, but now I can admit it.
