Trading With the VWAP Golden Rules. Volume Weighted Average Price is a very useful indicator particularly for day trading. It is a benchmark that institutions and algorithms use for execution. If I had one indicator on a chart for day trading it would be the VWAP. So what are my golden rules for the VWAP? If price is continually above the VWAP then I will only align myself with long trades. OK.P

Ive found that using the VWAP on the 3min SPY and taking trades when you have a candle cross the vwap, and than a subsequent candle close of the same, is a great time to enter.

Most traders who trade usnig VWAP in consolidating markets trade the swing high and lows. But you have to factor in other price action and not use that strategy blindly. If the swings aren't wide enough then I would say it's not worth risking your capital. I hope that helps :)

I find that for intraday forex trend trading most important relevant (Guide)trend direction is ON 15 minute, 1h and 4h charts only-- For intraday trading weekly & monthly trends do not matter much(too far removed from intraday field of activity) & can be ignored. For simplicity sake if 15 minute ,1h & 4h trends are in the same direction, you have a trade set up in the same direction (one could fine tune entry 0n 5 minute charts). In general if daily candle be in the same direction for any trade it is better but not A must.--Sir, what do you have to say?

Sir, Daily or 4 hour S/R(support/resistance) levels, Forex --do these levels deflect price 60% of times?--and if so why not put standing orders at the start of each day in few currencies(each order with take profit & stop loss) and let the statistical edge play out. It may be safer to just work with daily S/R levels but 4 H levels would give many more executions. And if one happens to be watching price action at the level LIVE then combine it with overbought/oversold stochastics/.cci to confirm price deflection chances. Any comments/suggestions?

There are none. VWAP calculates average price so keep default settings if you use a platform that allows you to alter them

I hear you, however VWAP doesn't change when you switch timeframes, unlike Moving Averages. So you get consistent reading whether on the 5m, or 30m chart. As it's an intraday indicator, it's seem more clearly on lower TF's. Peace
