I was just looking at the 3 rivers catalog trying to figure out DAS vs ILF… then along come the TradLab with the answers.

I’ve been shooting one piece recurves and longbows for a few years and just bought my first takedown last week. I went with a DAS 21” riser and am loving it.

I remember when Hoyt tried to bring back that design on the high end Olympic bows with the Axis and FX limbs back in 2000. It was so easy to switch between ILF as the detent had a quick swap system. One thing I didn't like about it was how often that thumb screw would always come loose.

Hey there, thanx for answering my feather question so fast'' and thanx for this ILF-DAS video, i new the difference but now i no 10 times more'' lol '' i was really needing or wantin' ta no if shooting the recurve and longbow with a quiver' 4-8 arrows'' on,, makes your arrows fly different or different enough ta effect your accuracy'' i no when i bare shaft tune an arrow to my recurve without a quiver it makes it makes a difference' just wantin ta no if adding the quiver after bare shaft tuning effects shooting a fletched arrow enough ta worry about'' and as always thanx for all your doin for the stickbow shooter''' happy hunting.,.,.
@tradlab18593 жыл бұрын
Yes it does the question is can you detect it. You can back up tune with it on and see if it changes. I always tune with a quiver on if that is how I plan to hunt.

It would be awesome if you did a video on how to set a Das bow up. Like where the limb bolts are actually bottomed out at. Is it better to measure brace from grip to string or from string to side plate. There’s a lot of confusing stuff in the manual.

Great video once again, I guess I’ve just been too lazy to use DAS connections. I might have to change that now.

I just bought a das 17 with the Das fitting non ilf. I had a few problems with this brand new riser. Limb butts were one of them. Sanded my Samick r3 limbs butts for clearance. The bottom tiller bolt was too big in diameter to turn in the tiller bolt one turn from factory setting without the bezel hitting the riser, clearance problem. I took an old bezel that I had, ground it on an angle so to have more clearance and was able to turn in 1.5 turns in from factory to bare shaft a 350 spine arrow. My samick R3 limbs are 45 lbs and now I'm guessing I have 48 lbs at 28 inch draw.. any problem with bottom tiller bolt clearance for you hitting the riser?

I noticed you have MXT 10 long limbs on your DAS HT21. I want to get into trad from compound and I’m an avid bowhunter. Would that setup you have be good for tree stand hunting? Thanks!

For all that effort for DAS, i would want lateral alignment. Lateral alignment would be rock solid with both loctite and hardened steel locating components. That and/or it would be nice to see rubber pads on the ILF option, can surely be done. It's not a nice looking riser, so it would need to be really perfect in terms of build/function to be worth the buy
@guillaumefraser3813 Жыл бұрын
I add a thin (0.5mm) flat rubber or leather washer and glue them to the tiller bolts my ILF risers. I glue on the same thin rubber or leather to the limbs where they meet the riser. This does mess with the tiller a little bit, but I can adjust the tiller bolts for it and the issue becomes moot. Velcro pile (loop) or thin felt might work too. Low strenght loctite for the lateral limb alignment is enough for me. This, paired with string whiskers or beaver balls, has made my bows noticeably quieter than the ones I've seen at the clubs I've been to, comparable to some of the compounds, at least to my ear.

Do you know the Limb Butt thickness of the TradTech Black MAx2.0 Glass /Fibre Recurve limbs at all. Thinking about pairing a set those with a Das Riser with the Das connection system.

So am I understanding that DAS limbs and ILF limbs are drilled and cut out the same and the difference is in the bushing? If I'm understanding this you can buy a used set of ILF limbs and convert them using the DAS bushing to use on DAS system?
@tradlab18593 жыл бұрын
Yes you can convert ILF to DAS as long as the bushing goes through the entire limb.

Can I ask where is the max setting when adjusting tiller bolts for poundage would the brass sleeve being snug to the rubber pad be max setting in I've Just got hold of a das dalaa 17" I have some uuhka tuulai limbs 40# on a 19" riser and wondering how far I can screw the bolts in to gain a few # without causing any damage to limbs or having performance issues appreciate any help
@tradlab18592 жыл бұрын
Your best bet is to contact 3R Customer Service. I always try to match the line of the riser to the limbs. They seem to offer a broader window of tune in this space. That is usually the middle of the bolts.
@bowsnature93362 жыл бұрын
@@tradlab1859thanks I actually started out with the back of the limb sort of matching the top edge of the riser shape I'll stick with that if I don't get a reply from 3rivers

What glue do you use to hold down the rubber pads?
@seanjorgenson80643 жыл бұрын
You put a flattened point or ground. You put the threaded end in the bushing it won't hurt the threads. And tap it out the pilot keeps it centered no damage.the target point fits the hole perfectly.
@williambilse Жыл бұрын
With ILF the limb is not supposed to be bottomed out against the tiller bolt. The dovetail hardware bottoms out leaving a gap between the limb fork and the tiller bolt.

@robertpeters69233 жыл бұрын
I bought a Samick discovery ilf. Whenever I string the bow up the first shot makes a loud crack. After that it fine. No one at Three Rivers ever heard of this. Do you think I need to replace the dove tail. Seems like it won’t seat on its own.
@tradlab18593 жыл бұрын
Do you seat the limbs by drawing it about 4" and letting go of the string?
@DM-sq3jm Жыл бұрын
He's right on the money. Pull back the string a few inches and let it go. If allows everything to seat correctly.

I always thought the ilf limbs should lock in. Mine does not and has not since new so I have to be cautious when stringing
