Two years ago I worked with you with a tendon fray in my back. Today I still use everything you taught me and am shooting pain free. I couldn't lift up a frying pan back then and now I can shoot 50lbs at 29 inches on my recurve comfortably. It was an amazing decision to work with you and I'm glad you're still doing well!

Thank you! And thanks for the suggestion. There are very few drills that you can do with a compound bow to build draw strength due to the draw cycle. The best method to build strength for a compound bow is to very slowly increase the weight (1lb at a time), shoot a lot, and then do supplemental strength training focused on the bow arm and draw arm. Soon I plan to do a video for exercises that can be used to build draw strength with a compound bow.

@@archerystrong Many thanks. I did your program Archery storng 1 and 2 and I improved huge. But every time i have prolonged pause from shooting, I must drop poundage for 5 pouds. And train hard to get back:-9

Will these also build bow arm strength as well as draw arm?

Absolutely. When we think of draw strength and building it, we need to think of both the draw arm and the bow arm because each play a role in draw strength. Even though the draw arm pulls, the bow arm is doing an equal amount of work, it just looks a bit different. So, we're focused on building strength in both the draw arm and bow arm with these drills.

Hi Clyde, rep number will vary for every archer because everyone is different, which is why I don't make a recommendation in the video. To best answer your question without knowing you as an archer, I would recommend performing the amount of reps that takes you to an 8 out of 10, and then rest for 1 minute. Repeat this 3-5 times to start. You can then increase from there if needed.
