Sharp collection. Yes I watched all the way to the end. 😊 I grew up in Texas carrying an “Eye Brand“ Carl Schlieper sodbuster jr and a Swiss Army knife in my pockets. Added in a Case and Kershaw and Schrade and Spyderco here and there over the years. Never really collected per se, just used them as tools. Always loved traditional knives after learning to use them and sharpen them properly as a kid by my dad and others. Hard to believe I only discovered GEC last year. We’re in a golden age now with more modern makers inspired and driven by GEC Quality.

I wish there were more American companies like GEC going around. GEC can’t produce enough for the demand which is totally understandable. But they are so beautiful that I wish there were a few more people in the game

I agree, i tried soany times to get there knives the day they dropped and never got one because they would sell out in secounds and a half hour later people on ebay would have several of them for sale for double the money so i quit trying. I refuse to pay the crazy markup.

They can absolutely make enough. They choose not to because they benefit from the scarcity. Manufactured scarcity is a thing in all industries. They make far too few so that they stay in demand and are 100% guaranteed to sell all of their stock. They never sit on stock because it is guaranteed to sell immediately. Few companies can say that. They do it on purpose and they are a scumbag company for it

Sharp, LaRock made not far from my home. Love your collection, just started my collection by accident 8 yrs. ago. Mostly Buck knives, case, Old Timer (USA). I Catch myself always looking now, thats how I came to your video. I also have a couple decent Chinese knives, that belonged to a past loved one. I've lost a least five buck hunting knives in 5yrs., I'm still looking for them. Swiss is a traditional to me. You have a few to many I would love to have, I'm on a hunt now.

I heard the other day that you were back making videos. I was a sub years ago. Good to hear from you again, I always enjoyed your work. So I counted 26 sharp knives and a few more that did not count, in a beautiful collection. I remember being impressed that you used most of them too. Thank you for showing your traditionals which are the only folding knives that I am interested. I'll start catching upon your videos.

Yeah I'm a big fan of the old slip joints. At 55 I think it has a whole lot to do with age. I can remember when there were very few locking knives at all. Really for a long time the was only the buck 110 and the case mako and the mako was so expensive none of us young guys could afford it in our teens but we all wanted one

I enjoy the old/traditional pocket knives more than the modern bulky ones. Warm/worn patinas is one reason. The other is economy of design. They are smooth to the touch, and are robust enough to make sure everything is solidly held together for its use as a tool. Thanks for sharing.

Killer collection man, love the variety. I'm fairly similar in that I have a ton of variety and I also didn't set out to "build a collection"... I think for me I was looking for "the perfect" knife and then eventually came to the realization that there isn't ONE "perfect" knife to cover all things but instead there is a perfect knife for each of many different uses/scenarios/purposes. So I ended up finding my perfect whittling knife (and then my perfect compact whittling knife) and I found my perfect around-town people-friendly carry knife and I found my perfect hiking knife and then my perfect yard work knife and then my perfect emergency food-prep knife etc. etc. etc. Then I realize I have like 60 GECs, 20 Case knives and about 30 vintage pieces. I'm whittling a lot of those down slowly as I really focus on in my "perfect this" and "perfect that" knives though. But that is what I love about knives, you can find one that specializes in just about in particular knife need.

Of the entire collection, I prefer the GEC -CAR 431118 - with a clip-on cover, from minute 6:40 of the video - for use in the kitchen in camp, and my Original Puma Bowie 6376 for forest and hunting tasks. Those two run the gamut of needs. Very nice collection, congratulations.

Nice collection. I have a small switchblade collection. The reason I don’t have any slip joint knives is because I closed a blade on my knuckle when I was a young child. I was halfway between my house and my grandfather’s house and I could not make up my mind which house to run to for first aid.😊

My pocket knife is a traditional Stockman's, Buck model. Yeah you can tell it is a carried pocket knife. I read a Survival book in which chapter 1 was titled, There is no such thing as too many knives. The photo showed the guy with knives laying around everywhere. I like certain knives for their durability factor. But some are just so pretty that they can't be ignored. It is nice to see a guy that keeps parts for knives, purchases tools specifically for knives, knives that are tools. I am a Vendor at Swapmeets on occasion so I look through all of the junk and find something worth fixing up. And Yes, There Is No Such Thing As Too Many Knives.

The first yellow Case is a Slim-line trapper, or farmers trapper. It is made of Del-rin not Der-lin, a thermoplastic developed by DuPont. Made by other companies by other names. Schrade calls their Uncle Henry style Staglon, the Old-Timer sawcut Delrin. They may call the one Northwoods a Madison Barlow, but it sure looks trapperish to me. A beauty by any name.
