My husband loves your videos and has been a subscriber for a while. Ever since we confirmed our holiday to Taipei and Seoul later this year, he keeps telling me about all the foods we need to eat based on your videos. I have a feeling our trip will mainly just be a food trip now!! Not complaining but it's meant to be our delayed honeymoon... I don't think there will be much romance happening, and we'll probably end up being in a food coma most of the time!

+lefthandeddavid, Most Asian do not eat as much as he dose or get to eat 1/4 as much as he does, and most do a lot of physical labor if they live in the non suburban areas. Most Asian countries, a majority of people don't have enough food to eat. That is why they generally use ingredients that is readily available like common greens. The bulgogi taco as he called it, we use just a little meat and wrap it in a lot of greens and big piece of lettuce. Why, because where I came from, greens were in abundant but not meat. Most Asian Americans are a lot more overweight than their counterpart in Asia.

You should try traditional English Black Pudding, it's essentially pigs blood, mixed with cubes of pork fat, barley, bunch of pepper stuffed into an intestine then boiled. doesn't sound too appealing but it's delicious, especially when sliced and fried.

Korean food is likely the heartiest AND healthiest - a combination that's difficult to find among Asian cuisine. Low carb (the only exception being rice), flavour depth and balance (salt from doenjang/soy sauce, sour from kimchi, umami from seaweed and bone broth) and heartiness from the variety of meats, and the lightness of the variety of vegetables in banchan.

Should I list all the third world conditions that existed there 30 years ago? Instead of feeling insulted, be proud at how the ROK has advanced in these years. I lived there for one year. Traveled the ROK from north to south. Saw and experienced a lot and enjoyed my time there. But it was third world back then, with ondol heating which dispersed heat under the floors by connecting tin cans, poor sanitation. The use of human fertilizer made eating fresh vegetables impossible for Westerners. In restaurants there were usually rubber gas hoses on the floor running from table to table for people to cook there food on (bugogi). People bringing livestock (chickens and pigs) on a bus was a common sight. The GDP was a fraction of what it is today. I could go on. They may have had buffets in Seoul, but they weren't like what we see in this video. Korea has come a long way, so be proud.
@beatnix99
@beatnix99 8 жыл бұрын
+Carmelo Giannino I don't think you know what third world country actually mean... The term 1st, 2nd, and 3rd world countries was originally coined after WWII to describe allegiance or lack of allegiance status of a country. 1st world country originally meant countries allied to United States or Western Europe. 2nd world country originally described socialist countries allied to Soviet Union, China, and Cuba. 3rd world country originally meant, countries who had no allegiances to either side of the Cold War nations. European countries like Switzerland and Denmark fell into this category. After the fall of Soviet Union ppl began using the term "3rd world" to describe under developed nations. If that's the standard we use to categorize world status of a nation half of America would be considered "3rd World" BTW... Human waste is used as fertilizers in America also. www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/2013/05/07/182010827/is-it-safe-to-use-compost-made-from-treated-human-waste

I can't eat enough to really make a buffet worth it, especially with my dietary restrictions, but I'd try ones like this anyway! Got to try a Sushi/seafood buffet once a couple months ago, $30 though but now that I know what's really good and what I I didn't like I could probably go once more as a special occasion, maybe for the lunch price instead of dinner price o_o''

Fun icon and name :p and no it's called Mizuki Buffet (If I recall correctly). The dinner is several dollars more than lunch but I'm assuming they have fewer selections when they first open. Would definitely try again though. Nothing made to order but every now and then my friend and I would see them make more sushi or bring out fresh trays of food so that's a plus. This place also lets you buy To Go by the pound but that can add up fast at their prices o_o
