This is a great review! Very in depth to help people pick out the best Missal for them. I personally prefer the St. Andrew’s Large Edition (with Vespers and Kyriale). It is the most comprehensive, beautiful, and informational of all the English Missals (Pre-55). Salve Maria!

I wholeheartedly endorse the Angelus Press Missal. I have used mine for nearly the entire 7 years I have attended the TLM. I also have the Baronius Press Missal and it is serious quality. Very nice. Only downside is that the print is small and difficult for me to read. The Fr. Lasance is too big and too much for what 90% of TLM attendees need for the liturgical life. The Fr. Lasance is like a Missal, catechism, and praywrbook all wrapped up in one. I gave mine away to a Taylor Marshall devotee. Baronius and Angelus are 100% of what the average TLM attendee needs and more.

Thanks for this comment! I just bought the angelus press missal and will attend my first TLM in a few weeks! I finish my conversion this Holy Saturday, please pray for me 🙏

@@IsabellaKathryn That is my favorite TLM Missal. It's the one I use the most. So easy to use. Done by the people that set the standard. The Baronius Press Missal is gorgeous but the text is a bit harder for me to use. Beautiful Missal though. But Angelus Press is my favorite

@@IsabellaKathryn You need to listen to the Traditional Thomist (Nicholas Cavasos) series on the problem with the liturgical reform. Aftwr that series you will know more than 95% of Novus Ordo priests do about the reforms that came after Vatican II

The con of Angelus is the Latin print is too small. It's Latin mass not English

Hi to whoever is reading this! I finish my conversion to Catholicism at fourteen years old this Easter Vigil/Holy Saturday. It’s been a 2 year conversion and I can’t believe it’s almost over. Please pray for me that I have a successful conversion and please pray for my atheist parents 🙏

Were your parents religious? I’m the age you were when you started and I’m doing the same but my parents aren’t. Do you have any tips?
@IsabellaKathryn6 ай бұрын
@@WBDailyStarRBLX my parents were once “Catholic” but weren’t really raised like it. They went to mass on Christmas and Easter and stopped going to church both by the time they were like 13. They became atheist before high school. My tip would be to explain to them how much you love it (if you haven’t already). To be honest my parents and I are TOTALLY different politically and they are not a big fan of Catholicism or my politics, but they do respect me, so I just avoid bringing it up.

@@IsabellaKathryn I have a similar experience as you. My mom is the only one that grew up Catholic in the Philippines but never really practiced it once she came to the US. My brothers and I were baptized Catholic but never grew up in the faith. My dad grew up Presbyterian. Both my Mom and Dad still "believe" but aren't necessarily practicing Christians; they're more on the "just be nice Christians" side. I converted into the Catholicism on May 19, 2024 which was pretty quick; it only took me just over a year. I'm the only practicing Catholic I know of in my entire family. I still live with my parents and brothers and just attempting to share the faith is hard to those that are indifferent and spiritually numb. Our situation reminds me of Luke 4:24 "And Jesus said 'Truly, I say to you, no prophet is acceptable in his own country.'" Just like how St. Monica prayed for like 17 years for the conversion of St. Augustine her son (my confirmation saint) we should remain steadfast in prayer for their own conversions into the Church.

One caveat for the Lasance missal: it is strictly speaking not 1962, but 1945, with Pius XII additions.

Its time to update the Missal. This may come as a shock but the Church has approved feast days since 1962 that are not in the Missal and canonized saints also. St Martin de Porres, Padre Pio come to mind. Also the Queenship of Mary Aug the 22nd. UPDATE PLEASE.

Does the Baronius missal have the old rite sacraments?
@janetbaker194519 күн бұрын
I am looking for a missal that has the English in the same vernacular as, say, the Knox translation of the Bible. I have a family member who doesn't follow the mass prayers very often, and at my gentle inquiry, said that he didn't like the thee's and thou's and so forth, that he doesn't understand the verbs with the -st's on the end, and so forth. Since I have this same objection to the Douay-Rheims translation of the psalms and much prefer the Knox translation, I feel him. Does anyone know of a missal that uses another English than the mass translation similar to the Douay-Rheims format (the Angelus, the Baronius, and all I've looked at). The Baronius Press Divine Office, by the way, uses the Knox translation--I wish they would for their missal.

Downside to Baronius i Missal is that they don't have commentary on the Ordinary of the Mass, and the rites on some of the Sacraments. Look nicer than Angelus Missal but not better.
