We take a ride on outrigger canoes through the wondeful paradise of Baei De Oro... / nandji
In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we explore the beautiful Ilse of Pines, New Caledonia. This island is the most southern island of New Caledonia and it is something straight out of Jurassic park. Covered in beautiful forrest and of course pine trees. The pine trees are amazing to look at, reaching 100ft high in the sky. Tall and skinny and towering over everything else. We trek around the island, climb the tallest peak, go swimming in the most pristine natural swimming hole that resembles an aquarium and go sailing on a traditional outrigger boat through Baei D'Upi. You are only allowed in this bay by catching a lift on one of these fishing vessels turned into a tourist vessel. Ilse de Pins is an amazing island and a little slice of paradise worth visiting.

It does look a bit like Thailand and Vietnam with the limestone karst all chiseled and eroded away by wave and weather. The more I see your vid's the more I like them. You two characters make a good team. Love the positive, exuberance and oh, what a lovely place.

Ile des Pins, you really have found paradise, just a little tip climbing coconut trees, (you might have tried already) I have seen the locals tie their ankles with a sarong about the width of the tree apart then hop up the trunk. great video again.

as always , another fun video . This one was even better, as it seemed to ( for lack of better way of describing it ) have a stronger and richer flavor, in that all the combined colors appeared more vibrant and crisper. Are you using a different camera , lens or filter etc, or is it truly paradise ? Or is it just the glow off of Bonita ? Music from Bobby Alu was also a part of what made this very enjoyable to watch . Thanks for the video Bob from Calgary ( Canada )

We have found a monitor and an aries but have been discussing to hydrovane... we think we like the hydrovane the best as it can be offset which would suite Nandji the best.
@kevincostner9734
@kevincostner9734 6 жыл бұрын
Sailing Nandji - Frothlyfe i agree hydrovanes are perfect for youre boat. They also have the ability to be used as a emergency rudder should the need ever arise. Only down side is they are much more expensive . But up side easier to install and more user friendly. Looking foreward to youre next vid.

Have you guys thought about where you will fit your new windvane? I notice you have davits and solar panels on the stern, which is right in the way of a normal windvane mounting. Just a thought. All the best.
@FrothLyfeSailingNandji
@FrothLyfeSailingNandji 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have investigated in depth and thought of how we would mount a windvane. We like the hydrovane as it can be mounted to the side and is adjustable in its size to fit around the davits, our stern ladder and is generally smaller and less bulkier. We have been discussing possabilities with them and have come up with a design option. How ever they are expensive so it is all about saving pennies for now!

Love your videos, your attitudes and personalities, it makes your videos unique. Just one technical thing you might consider trying, in this video there are shots of each of you walking ahead while the other is filming this is reality, but from a video production perspective, it just looks odd because it doesn't show you together. To make these shots flow better, try setting up the camera ahead of you and walk towards it and passed, or behind you and walk away, you only need a ten count to capture the footage you need, most time you will only use a second or two, you can edit in a walking towards view, or a walking away view or occasionally walking towards and away shot, to show movement along a route. The down side is you have to go ahead and set the camera then go back to walk towards it, or go back to get it, but it will be worth the effort for the both of you together shots you will gain. Regards, Dave.

Thanks for the advice, we do place the camera ahead sometimes and do the walk by, it is funny when we do it. you run forwards, place the camera, run back, then walk casually haha thanks mate, your point is noted!

See the problem all comes back to that Crocodile Dundee fella. He came up with the phrase Walkabout. And ever since in your part of the world this is something known to be your thing. Well let me rephrase that I think Benita's thing. So better get used to it old son cuz I think you're stuck with her... Lucky bird I can't remember how to spell his name so we'll just have to go with his. However good he may be at large boat repairs it's obvious he shouldn't touch outboards... sorry just teasing, I don't mean it
