Working from home is great. Bought a new F150 in 2020 and have 14k miles, most of that vacations. Recently the dealership called me trying to get me to trade in and they can save me money. I asked him, "The exact same truck is now $30,000 higher and the interest rates are 4x minimum, how exactly are you saving me money?". He just replied, "Point taken, have a good day".

I appreciate the heads up on this situation. We just bought an SUV because our VW GTi was beginning to be costly in maintenance. We are fans of Toyota products, but we don't care for the dealerships. We got a Corolla Cross AWD hybrid base model for about 32K. The miles per gallon has been far over the numbers on the sticker. We get just under 52 mpg. Very pleased. My truck is a 2007 Tundra 5.7l and it has 150K miles on it. I reckon I'll keep it. Paid 33k new. The new truck itch is always present for folks like us who love to hunt. I was considering getting something else so I did a fair amount of research and if I did get another one it would probably be the Frontier. Used. At least that's what I was considering before I figured on keeping my Tundra. Bad gas mileage but I don't drive it much so can't really justify the price of a newer truck. I don't know how anyone can afford the 70K they are asking for most trucks out there. I guess 55k is the new 33k.

Hold on to your vehicles , make them last 200000 miles . Do the regular maintenance on them , it’s a lot cheaper than buying new and if you’re vehicle is mid 2000s it should last. Just my 2 cents.

@SheliaPate-le2rf that works too. But I recommend looking into the repairs costs of replacing the trans, motor, and other system on the vehicle you have to make sure you are prepared. If you are OK with those numbers and the risk, perfect. Me, no way. I'd rather have a warranty, no worries, and buy something for such a good deal I beat depreciation

Sounds good. But my 04 f150 was starting to rust out. The frame is notorious for cracking. Timing chain replacement, $3500. Cab corners… I can literally put my fist through it. Electrical problems, because the amount of rust with the grounding connections… I wanted to keep it. But I had it for 15 years. I got my money out of it

Before I joined the military I worked as technician at GM and dodge dealerships . So I keep mine and fix them. As long as a non mechanical person changes the oil with a good oil every 5000 and air filter and other minor maintenance. They will last. If you got the money go for it but new doesn’t always mean no problems

@ they fail both versions it’s a problem but again oil changes but banks 1,4, 6,7 lifters may go . It a gamble. Jeeps have roller problems and oil coolers . Toyotas have turbo problems on the new version. Every manufacturer has some problems

$17k off a Silverado is still $15k higher than it was 4 years ago (in my neck of the woods at least) on top of interest rates 4x higher. There's no upside to buying right now unless you absolutely need it.

@KS-ud8pg i won't buy used. Mainly reason. Stupid 10k oil change intervals manufacturers recommend today. I always change my oil every 5k and would not buy a truck that gets 10k oil changes if I planned to keep it long term. So for me personally, I won't buy a used truck today, not even lease turn ins. But that is just my opinion. I also will not own another vehicle today outside of factory warranty due to the 50% part price increases and 60% labor increase in the past few years. 8k to replace a turbo today, 30k to rebuild a toyota tundra motor, 12k for a transmission, 9k for a diesel fuel pump.

They going to drop 30k next year. I sold cars in Fairfax Va. For DARCARS. I walk in a dealership. Give them no info. And say I'll give you this much on that or i move on to the other dealer. Offer and walk. If you tell them where you're going next. They will call that dealer and tell them you walked. Even if you get the deal you like walk again. 😂😂😂

Well I think your a little off, I have owned 2 Toyota tundras and both I ordered the way I wanted. I did wait for a few months for both but I will continue to buy and own Toyotas. With ordering I didn’t get any discounts but didn’t care.
