I think the frustration you see in the comments is that folks are upset that most vehicles are targeted to the upper middle class now, not necessarily the middle class, and when middle class folks reach for these vehicles and have problems, they scream much much louder. In addition to that, many middle class folks just won't or can't afford them at prices now, and paying $40k for a used vehicle almost out of warranty is a terrible idea. Going from more reliable to less reliable vehicles and charging much more for it upsets people, rightfully so. I for one don't think you should need to buy an extra warranty for a new vehicle or slightly used vehicle, especially when the used vehicles cost as much as the new used to. Prices probably won't dip to what they were 5 years ago but, they are dropping. Time will tell how long the charade can continue. You are correct...shiny/new/tech and people have no idea what's under the cheap aluminum.
@Jason-SamkoАй бұрын
Great thoughts and great points. But very frustrating for those that buy a new truck and go to youtube to learn about it and all the hear is junk, garbage, it sucks etc. And it is a shame we need to out extended warranties on new trucks today. But with all these problems and the astronomical costs I feel it's the safest bet. And of course they are raising those prices of the warranties now too! Just can't win😂

@@TheCarGuyOnline I'm still happy with the last few years. Before the government stuff kicked in we had the manufacturers really step up to the plate with some high horsepower, retro like, great specialty vehicles. I'm not saying the prices were good. But the manufacturers did give a last "hoorah" of some extremely powerful vehicles. Just the chargers lined up at Dodge. Various editions. Ford the same. The Corvette revamped. I'm suspecting because of the coming regulations? But for a moment, it looked like the companies pulled from their roots for one last big party.

Everyone is a hater expert when they comment behind the keyboard. Love this video! You are so correct! You got a hit, like, and subscribe from me! I bought a 2024 Tacoma Off-Road this year. Only financed $31,000 out of the door for it with the upgrade package to boot. How? I save my money, pay off my trade-ins earlier, and realize vehicles depreciate when you pull off the lot. My point? All vehicles when up in price so get over it. If you can't afford it, simply, look at it. Plan ahead and keep your money within your budget instead of living in the moment of high debt like most impulse buyers do. I love the 2024 Tacoma compared to my 2018 Tacoma Gen 3. Two recalls taken care of in my driveway. 21 MPG average. Could not be happier, had a Chevy and GMC and this truck is superior in every way. I understand people’s frustration with prices and poor quality but I just have not had the same experience. People need to stop complaining, the only thing manufacturers understand is when you stop buying, so don’t buy for a year or two if you can. Forget about what the MSRP stickers say, what is important is what the out the door price is in the end. You need to find the best price and fit it to the best possible vehicle, and you have to be flexible with brand choice, if you are stuck on a brand you will pay more. Get out of your comfort zone and buy outside your state. I bring cars and trucks from 1,600 miles away. Yes shipping is a pain but if it means I save six or eight thousand dollars then it’s worth it. Price are not going to go down that’s just a fact, but incentives will continue to go higher and higher, that’s just the reality we live in.

I think the issue is everyone buys a truck for a different personal reason. Some need towing capabilities, some need off road capabilities and some just need a commuter. So it's difficult to find everyman's truck. I personally had a 2017 Tundra TRD Pro and hated it. I hated that it had no posi when Toyota claimed it had a "automatic locking differential" in the rear and that was not true. It had open front and rear differentials. I previously owned a Duramax so I was used to the towing power and a locker in the rear. So I finally got back into another Duramax with the 6 speed and I'm back at home again. I get better mpg, better towing and a locker again and I will be the first to say "it sucks off road." It's so heavy that it sinks in the mud. However, I don't need to go mudding. I do need to pull heavy loads and I do need the locker for the winter time. So I have a truck that "sucks" for off road but I have my towing rig and I have 250k miles on it and it runs great! No emissions is the reason. I'm afraid of the new trucks.
@ChubbydippinАй бұрын
You're spot on Jason. Everyone has an opinion. And everyone's opinions are "obviously" better and more "correct" than everyone else's opinions. We're so fractured and divided in this country. Even saying something "sucks" is ridiculous. "That truck sucks." Sucks what? Sucks gas? Sucks ass? If you don't like something and want to express that, say or type why you don't like that something. Just saying something sucks is weak and straight out of a politician's blame game playbook. It's similar to that age old non specific, "no you can't go to your friends house tonight." "Why?" "BECAUSE I SAID SO!!"

But until you share your strategy, I will continue to buy older super reliable vehicles and drive them till the wheels fall off doing as much of the maintinence and repair needed on the vehicle myself. I do here what your saying and cant argue with the logic. But I am going to hold out on the whole rental economy grift as long as I can. Love your videos!! I have a 2023 Chevy Colorado ZR2 which I love. I only have 7k miles on it. My question is should I put an extended warranty on it now or wait until the factory warranty is about to expire? Do I just go to the chevy site to get one? Any idea how much it would be? Thanks!!
@gregjoubert5118Ай бұрын
If he doesn't get to your question he has a whole video on extended warranties and how to shop for them. But, he does mention this in this video. I would say if you plan on keeping it outside of factory warranty yes, get the extended warranty but shop around for best pricing.
@Jason-SamkoАй бұрын
You will want to do the extended before 12k miles or 1 year. Af6er thst the price goes up. Call gmac directly to see what it costs. Then just to be sure call 5 dealerships in 5 states and ask for quotes. They just need your vin and mileage and purchase date. Pick the one with the best price.

I have several issues that annoy me about the new truck market. However, the biggest reason is the cost. Both the initial cost and long-term cost. I like to keep my vehicles at least 6-8 years. For me, it's unlikely I'll ever purchase a new truck again. I'll keep my old Tacoma as long as possible.

Purchasing a new 23 gladiator left over in 03/ 2024 I think it’s a nice truck, but unfortunately, the quality has bit me in the ass, my hood’s corroding my door is corroding. My window in the back is coming off/ from the hardtop and my two freedom panels are letting water leak on the head unit. My vehicle looks like a decorated towel monster as I use the towels to soak up the water. Gladiator is tremendously capable and a good truck however, six months of ownership has me thinking this will be a short-lived experience thank God I didn’t pay full price for this thing and got about 20% off otherwise I would be in a bad situation, the corrosion issue is a real thing.
@kabloosh699Ай бұрын
Sounds like you got a lemon. I've bought 4 new vehicles in my life and have owned them all for at least 5 years each and none of them have developed rust and I live in PA. I've had a Subaru Legacy, Subaru Crosstrek, and 2 Chevrolet Colorados. Also have been around older vehicles like my first car a Dodge Spirit. That thing was over 10 years old and didn't have a ton of rust. I'd be calling up the manufacturer if there is tons of corrosion after a year of ownership.

@@Jason-Samko yeah I have it scheduled, but we have a hurricane Milton on the way, so I had to push it back a week. The aluminum corrosion situation is a real Debbie downer on these jeeps and I don’t believe Jeep has a handle on it at all. I’ve come across so many people with the same issue. It’s absolutely astonishing how bad it is. Furthermore, if anyone keeps one of these for a long-term out of warranty corrosion repairs , will cost a fortune

One of the last couple simple vehicles left. Crazy side not. I hit a mud hole today that was pretty deep and I got stuck in it quick. Tried to back up (in 4 high, traction control off lockers on) and the tires would not even budget or spin. I floored it and rams would not even move. Thought I broke something. Got out and sunk to my knees in peanutbutter mud under the water. Realized the tires were suctioned in. Got back in and out it in 4 low and was able to break tires free and after 10 mins of rocking back and forth climbed out. Never been in a hole so thick it locked the wheels..lol

I never realized the amount of hostility between brand fanboys exists until I bought my Jeep. Everyone thinks the gladiator is junk because their friend's cousin's Liberty needed a "wiring harness" (ridiculous dealer diagnosis) in 2011. This platform is fucking solid compared to a lot of other new trucks unfortunately. At its root, guys make a giant purchase on their trucks and it sucks to see that truck needing major repairs and the repairs cast doubt in the owner's eyes. Back in the 80s, Ford 300s ran for decades without major repairs. That's what we expect out of a modern truck but it's not reality. Guys don't want to see your truck in the shop needing a 12 grand engine or 8 grand transmission and they are trying to be helpful. Simple and cheap is better, unless you want your heart broken and end up underwater on a loan.

Hi Jason, I have a KZbin channel where I review car reliability, and I get exactly the same kind of comments. I spend a lot of time doing in-depth analysis of models, gathering breakdown statistics, including feedback from mechanics, and you know what I’ve noticed? The people who leave such comments, 99% of the time, don’t actually own these cars and just consider them bad. When they hear the word 'turbo,' that’s enough for them! Automatically, it's garbage for them! And it really frustrates me because I also have tons of comments like 'my Ford Fusion has driven 260k miles, and it’s still on the factory turbo!' As for Chevrolet, everyone calls them junk, and yes, they have problems, but the statistics show that it’s an issue with the early production years! Take the second-generation Chevy Colorado, for example. The first two years had a huge number of TSBs, but what do we see after that? A couple of years later, the number of complaints becomes even lower than that of the Tacoma! But no, people have already made up their minds, and Chevy is junk for them. Sorry for the long comment, and yeah, great video, man
@Jason-SamkoАй бұрын
@thelonglastexpert agree 100%. Is exhausting to have to read thru all the "it's junk or sucks" comments to get to the comments that need a question answered etc. Huge waste of my time and not good for people thst own said truck and want more info on it.
@thelonglastexpertАй бұрын
@@Jason-Samko At some point, I realized there's no point in responding to such comments on my channel. Now I'm thinking about what’s better: deleting them or leaving them. I feel sorry for the people I'm trying to help make a good choice. I explain that there is a car that had problems, but in the end, they weren't that serious. And then this commenter shows up with his "my friend had a Chevy, and he said it’s junk that constantly breaks down." What Chevy? What engine did it have? What exactly broke? It doesn’t matter! The main thing is that everything Chevy makes is junk. You have a really good content man more people should know about your channel.

Believe it or not there are a few model vehicles made today that will last 30 years or more if properly taken care of. And no, anything with a turbo, hybrid or electric does not apply. I would argue there’s a few that are also the best vehicles ever made. Time will tell!
