Please note that what's described here isn't fasting. It's just eating 3 times a day but cutting a few calories. Please fast if you're able. And please attend Mass on Holy Thursday if you're able. Doing the bare minimum as Catholics isn't the best idea.

Holy Thursday is I think my fav day of the year. I remember being in my 7th grade 14 years old , and at the Homily I understood why this day is sooo important and what a gift Jesus gave us. 🙏🙏🙏Eucharist,Priesthood and Holy Sacrifice of Mass

In Cuba, where my parents grew up and where I was born, the days of the Triduum for Catholics are to be lived as if a beloved family had died . No laughing or joking, no music, unless it’s appropriate for someone’s death, no going to parties or movies, etc. Some people may think that not laughing or having a sense of humor is unhealthy but if it happens spontaneously it’s fine. Just no goofing off on purpose or acting silly. Now, this has changed since the communist revolution but in the Catholic Cuba of my ancestors, before 1960, Jesus’ death, before His Resurrection, was taken very seriously so that when Easter Sunday comes, there is true joy. Heather, the fact you did this video reminded me of all these traditions and for that I thank you. I’m going to try harder than ever to live them this year. God bless you and yours.
@pagejames87548 ай бұрын
And I'm sure people actually fasted and took that seriously. What's described here is the bare minimum and not even remotely a fast ... "eat 3 times a day, 1 full meal & 2 small meals."

Our parish holds a special mass for kids on Holy Thursday where our parish priest washes the children's feet. On Friday we go to church as well for the stations and adoration of the cross service. We have a tradition of doing 7 visits... Many people visit 7 churches and pray before the sepulchre (a special place in church, usually at one of the minor altars at the side). It is beautifully.decorated with white flowers and the Holy Eucharist is exposed for adoration. This year I will sing one of the psalms at the Easter vigil mass. For Easter lunch I'm organising a picnic with an Easter egg hunt. We also have a special threat we bake for Easter .We call them figolli. They are made with sweet dough with an almond paste filling and decorated with icing or chocolate. Thank u for this video ❤❤❤❤

A Polish Holy Saturday tradition is to have their Easter baskets blesses. They have specific items like butter in the shape of a lamb 🐑, a piece of cloth or lace, an egg, and more. The ceremony is cool.

Holy Thursday in my country is a Holy day of obligation and we have a mass where the priest washes the feet of 12 people and afterwards their is adoration of the cross. Good Friday we do Stations of the Cross and the Veneration of the Cross mass at 3pm and of course the Easter Vigil mass late Saturday evening. All 3 masses (Thurs - Sat) is the Easter Triduum and is actually seen as 1 mass. I suppose it differs in some countries, i love your traditions and your deep reflections. Certainly inspiring. Have a blessed Easter.

I live in Poland, I clean a week before palm Sunday. And from that day I go to church everyday of the Holy week and a week later. Most of the families are making shopping and preparing meals. On good Friday I don't eat and go to way of the cross ,during the evening mass we kiss the cross and go to a place which represents Jesus grave. There are night confessions. That day I prepare Easter basket which is traditionally blessed on great Saturday. We have Wet Monday this is also a Holiday

A new Holy Thursday tradition I just learned of last year…during evening adoration, to try and visit 7 churches after the Mass of the Lord’s supper, all before midnight. It was so beautiful to walk into the various Catholic churches in my area (very fortunate to have many) and see each decorated as if it was the Garden of Gethsemane in a darkened church, and sit with Jesus. Very moving.

In Poland Easter is major holiday, with 2 free of work days. Our country is Catholic. We have many special traditions in Holy Week, deep cleaning our houses at the beginning :) the rest is similar in majority, except in Holy Saturday Priest do the blessing of the Easter baskets in Church, which contains samplings of Eastern food. We decorate Easter eggs ourself, these are hard boiled eggs :)

Do what's best for your family. But having little kids doesn't preclude going to Mass, especially on Holy Thursday. My mom had 3 under 3 and we never missed Mass. It's not easy, but if your kids are used to going to Mass, it's easier than all of a sudden expecting it of them when they're older.

I've grown up as a catholic in a very religious southern European country, holy Thursday and Friday are holidays, no schools (for the whole week, lovely for working parents, lol), and no work for the parents on Thursday and Friday. We don't fast, just don't eat meat on Friday but there's a neverending array of sweet traditions. Also processions, reenactments of the passion 😵💫 And the eggs, I'm afraid it's not very catholic, that comes from somewhere else.

Seems like my comment was deleted 😥 But here is my 2nd try:All I said is that I'm a little confused about that phrase: "many people don't know what to do on Holy Saturday." I think Catholics know that’s It's usually the day when our blessed mother is consoled and we meditate on her 7 sorrows the other option is to attend the Easter vigil, also called the Paschal Vigil that takes place on the night of Holy Saturday in all Catholic churches, especially for all adults who do not have small children or the need to prepare Easter eggs and decorations. (I don’t think I was being rude 🤷🏻♀️)

Hi. After watching your videos, I spent today cleaning. I have a lot to take to donation canter. I’m still debating Holy Thursday Mass and the Easter Virgil, it’s so late and I’ll be going alone. Good Friday my church does the way of the cross throughout the neighborhood and then there’s the Solemn Commemoration at 3pm.

Actually one has 6 weeks of Lent to get ready for Easter! Cleaning should be started before Palm Sunday! Also, one should be listening to Christian Music rhe whole time! I have been a Catholic for over 60+ years & a Catechist for over 40+ years......maybe I should start a KZbin channel myself !

Please note that what's described as fasting really isn't. It's calorie cutting. Unfortunately our Church has let people become extremely lax. Fasting is not eating. The bare minimum is what you described, and is really just normal eating for most people. Please actually fast if you're able.

Many Catholic families eat lamb on Holy Thursday. Holy Thursday is the day of the Last Supper. The Last Supper was probably a Seder Meal and Jesus and his disciples would have probably eaten lamb.

We hold a Christian version of a seder supper Thursday night before Holy Thursday Mass. On Friday we pray, and watch part of the Passion, and listen to the Bach music from which " O Sacred Head" is taken. We love the liturgy and listen to liturgical music to help us meditate more deeply. We go to the service on Good Friday. We usually have Mac and cheese with tuna fish for dinner.

Thou shall not make for oneself any carved image or likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: You shall not bow down to them, not serve them: for I am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers of the children of the third and fourth generation of those who hate me. God doesn't do dead things. The idol goddess Easter is old as Babylon and is the image the beast (Satan, God of this world 2 Cor. 4:4) gave the power to speak. Read 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 at some point during Holy Week. Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you The Gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, and in which you stand; by which since then you have been saved, if then you kept in memory what I preached to you-unless you had believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: How that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, and that He rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures. (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)
