He's got so trolled for not being woke so he's given in. He says, take for example the word handicapped... that's no longer acceptable, you should say disabled. So one day he's at the beach, and he's still being woke. A woman runs up to him and says, help please, my handicapped toddler is drowning. He says, whoa whoa whoa, hang on a minute, don't you mean your _Disabled_ toddler? She says, well yeah, same thing. He says, no, they are not the same, you should say disabled. So he turns to look at the sea, toddler.....floating.....dead. And he says to the audience, that's what happens when you waste time being woke. 🤣 Your comment reminded me of that. 😅

Let me tell you something personal: my Grandmother really was a 50’s housewife who worked 3 jobs, raised 11 kids and she did NOT dress like that whilst making bread from scratch because being an Irish immigrant to England meant she was dirt poor and actually HAD to make everything from scratch, she didn’t have an electric mixer or a washing machine and she didn’t make gum or cough drops for her toddler. She’d never seen fresh ginger until she was in her 70’s!!! Her husband drank his money, beat the ever living bark out of her and the kids and she would still have to go spud picking, cleaning and cook in a nursing home. These women live in a fantasy land. My Grandmother was not a stay at home Mum, she worked all day and all night and she was exhausted. 11 children will exhaust you without an awful husband, really laborious housework, trying to make your money stretch AND working. The babies went to the veg fields, the older children looked after the others and any teenager that could earn money when they hit 16 brought money back home. I wish these ‘trad wives’ would actually realise that legally being some guy’s property with very little rights and no help from anyone or safety net to catch you or divorce papers to be had was something that a lot of 50’s women went through. It’s not a role you could play it was a shitty life.

I straight-up REFUSE to watch tradwife content. It is so unrealistic and it is detrimental to the younger generation of women to portray this tradwife lifestyle, because it makes you feel bad when you can't achieve what they are portraying as gracefully as they are portraying. Reminds me of old 50s & 60s commercial advertisements, especially home appliances. You know, where the tradwife is dressed up like that Estee Williams meeting her husband at the door with slippers and a cocktail, then having the dinner table set and dinner served within moments of the husband walking thru the door. They're fakers and I don't like it. I don't like the ideology behind it. It influences ppl like that football player to make speeches discouraging women from pursuing anything other than a homemaker lifestyle. Which is fine for some, but there are a lot of ppl out there that have absolutely no business having children. As a pioneer of the opposition of tradwife ideology, I have been thru it. I still go thru it. I'm still made to feel bad because I didn't breed. Recently, my very own father said to me, "so my line ends with you." Which was a direct comment to me stating that No, I was not going to pursue fertility treatments to have a child because I'm beyond the "breeding" years for a human woman, and my childless husband is fine with that. I could really go on about how I married pretty much out of HS, how I was almost forced into having children by my 1st husband thru sabotage, etc, but it would be a novel. Just know that I've been thru it, and I totally disagree with the archaic ideological traditions that are being forced upon us, women, today. Personally, I will fight with tooth & nail to prevent us from every reverting back to that dead-end lifestyle for women.

I dated a guy for 3 years, I had to be the perfect girlfriend (hair and make up flawless, no body hair, no weight gain, etc.) Had to treat him like a king while I got nothing in return. I was so exhausted from being with him that I broke it off. I met my husband and married him 6 months within meeting, dating and engaged. 7 years later, he has seen me at my worst (4 babies, post natal depression, weight gain after kids, etc) and still looks at me with love and adoration. These trad wife video trends are quite unrealistic, it's equivalent to photoshopped magazines that young teens look up to causing them body image issues, except trad wife videos cause perfectly normal mothers feeling inadequate.

As a 60 yo mom of 4 and Grammie of 3, this is a DANGEROUS model for moms to envy. She’s portraying a stay at home mother that is non existent and built by social media. This is the homemakers version of supermodels. I stayed at home with my babies for 11 years, and some days I was fortunate to get dressed for the day before bedtime, especially because all 4 of my children were six years apart. She’s an actress, and I LOVE you for spotlighting the non-reality of this nonsense. It’s TOXIC, and it needs to stop
@Blueleaf115 ай бұрын
It is toxic, but sadly it's nothing new. I remember when I first had my kids, before the days of influencers, I'd get all these parenting magazines that would show you all these perfect moms with their perfect kids and would show you how to make all these perfect snacks, perfect crafts, their homes would be perfect, the kids rooms would be perfect. They would give me so much anxiety and make me feel bad, like I was doing something wrong. It took a while to realize that none of that was realistic. I feel like it's the same sort of thing going on here.

I've now watched 3 episodes of this series and in each one I really appreciate your message of "Be critical (I am taking this in the most neutral way possible because a lot of times people equate this word to judgemental or even to harrass others in their effort to be critical) and consume responsibly," because sometimes when people go deep into making points about this or that way a person is problematic it can lead to them more or less insinuating that by liking such media you (viewers) are problematic yourself. It can put people in the defensive and by doing that everyone loses, such viewers are gonna be less receptive to new information and the creator is getting negative engagement. Which by your own word all engagement is good engagement, but just on emotional level they are worse than the good engagements. Anyway, thank you for making these videos, they're really nicely done! ❤

I try to do homemade food but sometimes babies don’t permit a whole homemade thing. Easiest meals to make from scratch are soups and roasts. Sometimes I don’t always get to the dishes or the laundry. My husband doesn’t always come home to a neat home and a put together wife. What he does come home to is a loving wife and babies who are fed and adore him! He is the love of my life. I’m not his slave. We are partners who both have extremely important jobs ❤️❤️ I’m here with the babies and he makes money so I can be home with the babies ❤️ Not everyone’s cup of tea but it’s the lifestyle we both wanted and talked about when we were dating!

Any mother knows that the little toddlers are clingy and whiny. Calling the BS. I remember as a young mom, with 2 children under 2 years. My husband was so disappointed when he came home from work. House was a mess, no dinner cooked, and clothes were still in the washing machine. I got an appologie, when I had to go away for a week, and my husband had to stay home with the kids. He had no idea. 2 babies in diapers, dog that needed walking. Playing with the children, preparing and having mealtime with 2 children that was 6 months and 2 years old. The 2 year old was very active, so you needed eyes on him all the time lol. Some are in for a rude awakening.

This morning my husband said that his feet were cold, so I went outside into the field, sheered a baby lamb and spun the wool in my loom. I then picked some beetroot in my garden so that I could dye the lambs wool pink; dried the wool in the morning sun and then knitted him some slippers. I just happened to have some soft leather lying around so I cut that into sole shapes and quickly sewed them onto the bottoms of the slippers. I then toasted them on the fire so that he could have them extra warm to wear when he eats his homemade pancakes with elderberry jam. He was thrilled and couldn't believe that I had done all of that before my power yoga session at 8.30am.

What personally annoys me the most with the tradwife influencer are : - the lies (like pretending they are spontaneously making cough drops from scratch after they toddler woke up sick) - the "holier tha thou" attitude. The "I don't keep cereals in my house" clearly implies "because I think it's bad for kids", and so that they are better than you for cooking breakfast from scratch - the fact that they pretend to be a stay at home mom while they actually are a work at home mom And then what annoys me about the "trad wife movement" in general is that it says that this model is better than any others and that women should be this nurturing, submissive caricature. Like I am all for choice and if a woman truly wants to be a sahm without any external influence (spouse, society...etc) good for them ! I want to support them ! That is a lot of work too often underappreciated! But this shouldn't be a thing that they have to do or feel pressured to do ! Or feel less than if they don't go this route. Also as a childfree woman by choice it irks me when any movement restrains a woman's role as a mother. Motherhood can be a beautiful thing for those who want it ! And finally... It's sad that so much cooking content have all this layer of religion / lifestyle agenda etc. Just make a cooking from scratch channel/ page. But the cooking is not their main content actually. It's like a commercial for a lifestyle filled with lies and false promises.

These women undermine the one thing that housewives have been trying to prove for generations: that being a housewife is hard work, its unglamourous, often thankless, its tiring, its a sacrifice. But they portray it like some leisure activity. People have it the wrong way around. They don't undermine feminism because they choose to be traditional housewives, feminism should embrace that choice. Rather, they undermine women's value by delegitimizing the work of actual housewives, and profiting off their feelings of inadequecy.

Something I don't see addressed often when it comes to more "traditional" living is that, for most of history, housework and childcare wasn't just put on one single person, unlike what the expectation is today of stay-at-hone parents. Before the modern era, families typically lived in multi-generational homes where grandparents, aunts and uncles, etc. all helped with the chores and childcare of the family as a whole. People had more of a "village" mentality.

Exactly the whole village raised your child and if you ran out of ingredients, you asked family or neighbors (often one and the same) first before going to the store or sending the eldest to the store by foot or bike. It's a community effort. Now stay at home moms or wives are often alone in this and expected to do a village's work while they still have 24 hours in a day like everybody else.

The rich have no idea what true life for everyone else is like. They live in a perpetual fantasy world.

Buying a farm with no experience did NOT give off humble background. The poor can't buy farms on a whim... Price of a farm is not a play thing for most.

Exactly. My domain used to be a farm but no way I would know how to run it now.

For real. Being an actual family farmer with no airplane heiress money and influencer trad wife JOB is risky af. There's a reason why farmers have high suicide rates.

Thank you sincerely Hannah for this video! You outlined so many aspects of a huge problem for us mothers, but not only. You analyzed everything so perfectly. To be honest when I contemplate on all the content you shared in this video, I think that these are actually people who live quite a miserable life, because they out so much energy to portray something that at the end, is not true, and having all that pressure on them which at the end of the day prevents the them to actually take pleasure in what they are doing and the moments they have at this time with their family at home
