This portable Pellet Smoker... Grill... or Griddle is definitely worth its weight... which is actually about 60 pounds... but it does what is does very well... I do a 10.79 pound Boston Butt that it did not have any problem with... after about 9 hours of low and slow cooking it produced some close to competition grade Bar B Que... and you can put it in your trunk!!! We love BBQ and I have a feeling we will have many uses for it in a lot of locations... thanks for stopping by... jelly loves y'all and come back to see me!!!
For the record...
I am not sponsored or affiliated with anyone or any company in any way shape form or fashion at this time and as of 03/2021... that may change one day but for now...I have not accepted free products for over 2 years now and the only compensation or money I receive comes from youtube... they pay me depending on how many times you wonderful viewers watch my video and for how long it is watched... and please believe me when i say that I truly appreciate that...I will say that several kitchen gadget companies have reached out to me to sponsor or showcase their products...(some were really big companies and I have second guessed my decision on more than one occasion) I just don't think it is what this is about... meaning youtube reviews in general... but please understand me... and take my word when I humbly say that i absolutely understand others that do... and I may even do it myself one day... youtube is a lot more work than most people think so I understand why anyone doing it would only try to make as much money as possible... and I'll also say that i don't think free items...or even being sponsored... or even affiliated links...influence most creators reviews or even what they suggest for you to purchase from their Amazon etc. links...(I have purchased many items from the links provided in the video description of the people I myself follow) I trust anyone I follow or I do not follow them... but... I just wanted everyone to know that i am free and clear... at this time... of any outside influence and I understand if that does not matter to you and I also understand why... it is just the path I feel I need to follow at this time...so... I guess I said all of that just to say.....The only way i receive money is when people watch my KZbin videos... therefore I do not have any links for the items I use... you can mostly find any of them by googling the name of it and if it is something I don't mention then please feel free to ask about it and I will try to answer... thanks for your time and I hope you understand...i do want to say that I am literally a one man operation... meaning that I do all the planning... research... recipe test... any lighting or artwork on walls etc... shopping... videoing... editing... answering comments... washing dishes... thumbnail pictures... and taste test...lol... babydoll does help with dishes and some of my show ideas sometimes... but she mainly takes care of the more important things such as keeping our grandchildren... it is her favorite thing on earth by far and without a doubt... it truly makes her very happy... she also reads the Bible a lot... something I hope i can catch up to her on one day... she is also really good at making sure I have clean clothes and ...among many other things she tries to help anyone she can with things like taking them to their doctors appointment...etc... or picking up and keeping some of the best nieces anyone could ever ask for... they are truly...and I really mean it when I say... some really good and lovable kids... she also listens to my constant yammering about what I'm doing next and how I'm going to do it...lol... she's a good one and I know I'm not only blessed but also way too stubborn and picky for very much advice...lol... but... she's my rock and I love her more than i love myself... but...most importantly and with true honesty...I really mean it when i say...I love y'all all... and thanks for being here!!!... jelly

I love your idea of letting the pork butt rest in the Dutch oven. No need to spend money and create garbage with aluminum trays and foil.👍

I just bought a Traeger Scout a few days ago. I think it will be my main smoker/grill since most of the time I am only cooking for two. I still have the big offset smoker/grill when we have company need to cook larger quantities. I have seen a lot of channels commenting on the temperature fluctuations. As I posted elsewhere, the small grill will naturally have bigger temperature fluctuations due to the smaller volume of air. Also, the controller is always lagging (chasing) the temperature by the time it senses the temperature and adjust the pellet auger.

Excellent video sir. I've watched others, but yours has convinced me to purchase a Traeger Ranger. Thanks for the tip about removing the fat cap. Also, it might be helpful in future vids to note pellet consumption. I'm curious how many lbs. you used to make this. Thank you

Nice! I just bought a different portable pellet smoker, got tired of messing with offset smokers and babysitting them. I like the simplicity of the Davy Crockett one I bought.

Good cook John and it looks like it turned out okay. Only thing I do different is I'll leave the fat cap on and cook it fat cap side up then wrap it when it goes into the stall or when it's at the desired look of the bark color I think it needs. Usually that's between 165 and 170. Also I will take mine up to at least 198 then probe it for tenderness and when it feels like butter I will pull it. My rest time is usually at least an hour to two hours before I shred it. Are we going to see a Brisket in the future?

This video is terrible. Now I need to spend another $700 because there's no way I'm going to be able to live with myself if I now don't have this Traeger travel smoker (to go with my full sized Traeger), and Meater. At this point how can I NOT purchase this combo?! :) Looks delicious John and what a great product demo.

Hi. I have been reading up on these pellet smokers. I see the grilling area is said to be 184 sq. in. Can you tell me the actuall size of the grilling area e.g. 10x18 or 12x 15?

John, hi from Liverpool, UK. I have a question about the utensil you used to grab the meat off the grill, what is that? Is it just a pizza peel? Any chance you could give me a link to your exact one? I’ve just bought myself a ranger btw, thanks for your videos!

John, It's been six months are you still liking the ranger? I had to go to three stores to find one in St Louis. Finally at Bass Pro but bought some accessories at the neighborhood Ace Hardware. The first cook was some chicken wings that turned out insanely delicious. We should try cooking some frozen Onion Bubba burgers with it. Bet that would be good.
