Every Christmas, a hoarding gets built around the Eros statue. Some years they've had a festive plastic snow bubble on top. TBH, the water feature rarely seems to be working. I reckon your upgrade theory may be correct.

Leicester Square is so tacky and touristy. It has shops and restaurants that don't exist anywhere else in London or the UK. What Brit actually eats at Cinnabon and Bubba Gump Shrimp, really?? Dear visitors, don't bother and just walk through the place. It's a over commercialised area that's not a good reflection of London life. I like that they reinstalled the glockenspiel though.
