I feel this a lot. I came out as genderfluid in May. A lot of people in my life who were radicalized online to be transphobic or question the legitimacy of being trans, rather suddenly changed their view and ended up being nicer about Transness and my own gender identity than before rather quickly. Genuinely believe it was because they never ever met a trans (genderfiuid) person before and once they knew of someone like that they all of a sudden began to be a lot more understanding (not only with me, but also with the whole trans thing). People need to understand that there are people in those metal boxes. That just because from your point of view you resent, don't understand or hate something doesn't make it any less real or something people aren't suffering from.
