Steve Winwood took Traffic in a Progressive Rock and Jazz Feel to the table. They did an amazing cover of an English folk song "John Barleycorn Must Die" which is a song that personifies alcohol and the process of making it. He also left Traffic for a while to be in the first "Supergroup", Blind Faith. Blind Faith was two parts Cream and two parts Traffic, including Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker (Cream) with Ric Grech and Steve Winwood (Traffic). Check out Blind Faith's "Can't Find My Way Home" when you get the chance.

Steve Winwood had (and still has) an incredible voice and is a multi-instrumentalist. When he was in the Spencer Davis Group he sang the soulful "Keep On Running" and "Gimme Some Loving" at the age of 17 but with astonishing power and maturity. He was also in Blind Faith (singing the wonderful "Can't Find My Way Home"), & his solo output also includes gems like "While You See a Chance" and "Night Train". Stephen Lawrence Winwood (born 12 May 1948) is an English singer, songwriter and musician whose genres include progressive rock, blue-eyed soul, rhythm and blues, blues rock, pop rock, and jazz. Though primarily a vocalist and keyboard player, Winwood also plays a wide variety of other instruments; on several of his solo albums he has played all instrumentation, including drums, mandolin, guitars, bass and saxophone. Winwood was a key member of The Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind Faith and Go. He also had a successful solo career with hits including "While You See a Chance", "Valerie", "Back in the High Life Again" and two US Billboard Hot 100 number ones, "Higher Love" and "Roll with It" charting 20 years after the start of his recording career. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Traffic in 2004.[1]

Steve winwood is the Lead singer. He is from Great Britain but you wouldn't know that with that soulful voice. So many of rock and roll singers were inspired by our early black Americans going way back. They know it too. They loved our music from Great Britain. Even American rock and roll bands were inspired by Black Americans. Without our black Americans, there would not be rock and roll. You can hear the inspiration in the band the Animals,, they are from Great Britain but the Lead singer sounds very American and soulful. His name is Eric Burdon. He went on to form a band called War, there is a great song by them called, Spill the wine. You should listen to it live here on KZbin. Great song, again full of soul.

Supernatural for the first five seasons was one of the best written shows on network TV despite it being on the CW. A huge element in the early seasons, before legal/contract issues took over, is the music. The show was on point it seemed week after week with these classics and fitting those classic songs properly in the scenes and it added more emotional weight to those moments.
