Traffic Enforcement Agents are responsible to keep both pedestrian and vehicular traffic safe and moving throughout the City of New York. Entry-level Traffic Enforcement Agents patrol an assigned area in order to enforce laws, rules and regulations relating to movement, parking, stopping and standing of vehicles. These duties include issuing summonses, testifying in court and administrative hearings, preparing reports, reporting on traffic conditions and other related tasks.
Becoming a Traffic Enforcement Agent provides not only an opportunity to serve the community, but also offers a competitive salary, benefits, and retirement plan. Agents may potentially earn over $38,000 after one year of service, not including overtime. While overtime is not guaranteed, many Traffic Enforcement Agents earn significantly more income by working additional hours and tours of duty.
