I can't believe how riveted I was watching this. I caught myself holding my breath when the one bolt didn't come through the hole like the other 3 on that last one.

Love seeing how you look after your guys and teach them while getting the job done. Not just telling them what to do, but why.

Amazing to see how they're set up! Gives me a good learning experience through the screen.

You’re a good foreman and a good leader. Great job.

Never seen it done that way! We always choke the sling near the top of the pole. To recover the sling required a bucket truck. The way you did it (Using the pole hand hole) no bucket truck required. Learned something new.

Reminds me of when I did this job. Standing signal poles. Our signal poles the secondary lights and peds mounted to the shaft. I usually was the high man and bolted the cross arm to the shaft. Levelled / aimed the primary signal heads. You always must be vigilant of your boom swing into traffic and large 53 foot truck trailers. . Traffic was stopped when arm went up you had to work fast to bolt up the arm an release the trucks sling off. Fish down the wires.

I just retired from the Jackson County MS Road Department after 21 years. Working in traffic is dangerous stay alert. Drivers want their roads kept safe and in good repair but they don't even slow down in work zones. Always make sure you have road work ahead signs out.If their is an incedent where your vehicles are hit that is one thing the investigators will look for.

How long from when the concrete was poured until you could install the poles? It was only a couple days on KZbin but I assume there was a longer time for it to cure more.

You can usually strip your forms a couple of days later, but it's recommended that you wait a week before attaching any serious load. This is why it is most popular to pour on Friday, so that your crew can strip the forms on the following Monday. So schedule your Friday pours in advance to make sure it's reserved. And if you pour on any other day, plan other work for your crew to do on the next day. Concrete doesn't reach its full rated compressive strength until 28 days after the pour. It is approximately an exponential approach function to its steady state strength, and it generally reaches 99% of its steady state strength at 28 days. They test concrete 28 days after pouring it, and that's when a given recipe being tested, needs to meet or exceed its nominal strength (e.g. 3000 psi or 4000 psi). It reaches about 66% of its nominal strength after 1 week.

Good job and nice to stay away from those primaries and tight on your secondaries. How come no socket for those tightening nuts?

Do you like it when they all have their own mast or do you like it when the arms share a mast?
@MatthewLosito-x3s16 күн бұрын
Don’t you need a crane license. You are setting steel not a wood pole.
@davidobrienirl2 ай бұрын
@6:48 Wouldn't you have swept away the dirt first, before setting the pole on the foundation? Cleaner install.
