One recommendation that will help as you play is to be more mindful of cover. Keeping your troops in cover does a lot to keep them safe and flanking enemies makes them significantly easier to hit and land crits.

So a tip to execute your enemies faster, put your boys in Overwatch before you open fire. That way they will slaughter enemies before they have a chance to make it to cover or act upon their turn.
