To me the coolest thing about Joey was that even though he had become a star he was still a fan. When he played with Metallica, when he joined the Roadrunner team he always talked about how cool it was to play with musicians he looked up to. He never had a rockstar attitude, was never too good to take pictures with fans. Total badass. RIP legend.

I met Joey in 2017 during his tour with VIMIC. Me and my friend drove 10 hours to see the show. He was so kind and so down to earth, He seemed interested to hear us ramble on about anything and had a real conversation with us. You could tell he genuinely loved his fans and was proud of every one of them down to the core. I was shaking a bit because of my nerves, and afterwords my friend said that Joey looked really attentive to my anxiety, which melted my heart. The second me and my friend were heading out we burst out in tears. I rarely cry from joy, but that did it. Needless to say, My heart broke when I heard he passed, and I immediately reached out to my friend to ask if he was alright. I'm so proud of Joey for pushing through all that he did, and having a place in his heart for his fans, just as we have for him. R.I.P. 1

He overcame so much in his life with so much determination and resilience. He had so much stacked against him at various points in his life, as stated in the video, but he just let it fuel his fire even more rather than allowing it to extinguish. His passion and love for music will remain so awe-inspiring. He's such an inspiration to everyone, musicians and others suffering illness and chronic conditions and just all around. Hearing him always talk highly of everyone, regardless, says a lot of his character and how big of a heart he had. He was such a gentle, kind spirit and had a light so bright that the world just couldn't handle it anymore. His talent for all things music is unmatched and undeniable. His legacy and everything he created will live on in each of our hearts forever more. I so wish, like many others, I could've had the opportunity to meet this incredible human being and just thank him for everything...for inspiring me, for getting me out of so many holes where I felt sorry for myself and giving me that push to keep going, and for just being authentically himself all those years. We love you so much, Joey...sleep well, and I hope you're now at peace and free from pain.

Also, remember to respect Joey and his family's privacy. Don't listen to the 9-11 call. Don't expect any sort of details on what he actually died from. Joey was an insanely private person...he kept his family out of the limelight and only came forward with his illness after he recovered...we need to continue to honor and respect that, now more than ever. Same with Slipknot. I understand we are hurt by how they treated him...trust me, I get it...but now is not the time to be divisive and hateful. We need to come together and spread love. Not hate. We're all hurting, Slipknot included, probably in ways we can't imagine due to circumstance. I'm sure Joey would much prefer people to celebrate his life and to honor him than to lament. He after all still thought so highly of every member of Slipknot and loved them dearly, even after everything and even when he had reason to do opposite. Put it on pause. Let people heal and grieve.

This is something we should learn to cope with rather than pretend It's not there. This amazing man died, we should take inspiration from his story and live our own life to the fullest. Use this tragedy as a catalyst for our own growth, like the ashes of a man planted with a seed will grow a tree made of him. So too we can use this as a seed to grow ourselves. I grew up in the 80s following drummers like Neil Peart of Rush and even Tommy Aldridge when he was with Ozzy. So when a drummer comes along years later changes the game, it motivates to entirely new levels. Joey Jordison did that for me. Drummers are a dime a dozen, but few have the qualities and balance of heart and mind like Joey, Neil, and Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan from Avenged Sevenfold, all drummers we have lost way too soon. I still think Joey died from a broken heart. Slipknot did him dirty as hell. I give credit where it's due, Jay Weinberg is a talented drummer no doubt, but he doesn't have what Joey had. To me Joey will always be the best drummer Slipknot had. Joey Jordison and Ben Graves were my favorite drummers and now both are gone.. Fly High boys

I agree, Its hard living in the feet of someone almost everyone in the metal world recognizes as the best. Literally all big names even bands that don’t like Slipknot said Joey was so damn good on the drums and wasted his time with the wrong band. But going back to the new guy, He is great, But its hard to live up to the name, he did his best though

He was a heavy addict. Cory was super cool not to air him out. We've all seen Corey get clean. Thats what he meant. As a former addict myself i couldnt tell you how many times i told people "Yeah bro they thing im on drugs but i havent dont them in years!" when i just did them that morning. Seems like Joey was always hiding it. Then when he said he had that spine injury, not sure if it was an excuse or what but to me it was. It was like "THATS WHY im always out of it guys. Thats why i cant do shows and record." He OD'd. Plain and simple.

Joey is the only reason I ever picked up a pair of sticks. The level of inspiration he brought to so many people is unparalleled. The world and the music scene lost a true legend. An absolute icon synonymous with all things metal. You are missed Joey, rest in peace

I've never been a fan of the band, but my husband loves them. I have MS and when I was getting diagnosed a few years ago they originally thought I had transverse myelitis. It's not as treatable as regular MS so people go downhill pretty fast. RIP, you in no way deserved to get that horrid disease.

I wonder if the rest of the Knot have any Ill feelings for firing Joey for being f@#$ed up on drugs when it was that M.S. variant that took his legs. I lost a lot of respect for the Knot and there "brotherhood" for that. ....and now he is with Paul and nothing can be changed about it. Rest in eternal peace #1$uperball and #2 Pig. Dammit man.
@captpootis84953 жыл бұрын
They probably are, Ever had a friend u used to know then broke away from and then they died? Don’t blame most of the members, It was a collective thing from all of them, Not just Corey.. Not just Shawn. Plus they literally made a vow to never go back to drugs after Paul died because he oded and had heart failure (Or some sort of organ failure for that matter).. Just respect Joey. Pointing fingers now will not help.

the other quiet members like mick, sid, jim are all just happy to have a gig, i dont think they would ever stand up like chris did. gotta respect chris because he stood up to clown and coreys dodgy behind closed door business dealings. people can say what they want about certain members contributions to the music writing etc but that wasnt what sold them, the kids loved their brotherhood and unity. they were all as important as each other in those kids eyes.

Joey deserves more. He's a legend and hero, he influenced many musicians today (and for the future generations) His dedication, passion, soul in music is really heartfelt and impressive. You will never be forgotten. The best drummer ever in the world. slipknot=shit. They don't deserve Joey/the band he created. Its so hurtful and I'm still crying for what happened to Joey.
