Hugs! Remember always that your doe experienced such love and care with you and crossed the Rainbow Bridge in the knowledge of that love and care. Those babies are adorable! I'm not a current beekeeper, but I think any colony without a queen will either make a queen from eggs left by the old queen, maintain for a short time without a queen and take up with a swarm, or die off. A colony without a queen is usually more easily upset than one with a queen - you can often tell the difference in the frequency of the buzzing. I don't know how to explain it, but if you're fairly certain your colony is without a queen, it might be a great thing to get them one.

It's not too early to harvest honey, go ahead & pull it then give them back that empty box to fill again 😁 Yes workers will still put away honey w/o a queen. I would take off the excluded or take a few started frames from another hive to draw them up. A queenless hive will be a bit more agitated. Sort of restless feeling. That's a clue. If you think they are queenless give them freshly laid eggs from another hive & just leave them alone for a month. This has worked for me many times. Good luck!!
