Loving the xc stuff, but maybe a bit more of hardtail/not 7k xc bikes. It's awesome to see the XC content, but there is a massive different between XC pro racers and like 90% of people who ride xc

You should do a video where you do an XC course with a dropper post and without a dropper post to see whether the weight gain is worth it.
@andybloomer8 жыл бұрын
Now that's a video worth doing, my guess, way faster with a dropper. All that time they make on the climbs completely lost tip toeing on the downhill section

I think having a dropper post is totally worth it, even though it's heavier than a regular seatpost, having a low saddle just helps so much more on the descents than saving that little bit of weight does on the uphills.

I think this is more of a race bike vs trail bike comparison. Aside from the weight and strength differences, there really isn't that much of a difference between the two other than the dropper post. Both bikes can do pretty much the same thing. What separates them may be if you take them downhill. I'm guessing the XC race bike may not be as durable. The difference between 100mm and 140mm is 1.6 inches. That doesn't seem like much. I just slapped a 150mm 36mm fork on my XC bike (came with a 100mm fork), and now I'm having fun doing all mountain stuff. I love this fork! Sure the back is stuck at 100mm, but that's no different than a hard tail with a 140mm fork.

One thing that keeps away enduro from people is their expensive bike builds, you can get a lightweight XC hardtail for about >1000$ now with a decent fork and groupset. You guys should do videos on hardtails more, there is this new trending enduro hardtails around the web thats making huge hits. bikes like, commencal HT, Modraker vantage, Specialized Fuse +, Dartmoor Hornet, NS surge evo, raggley mmbop etc i could go on and on. As a Student with an XC bike and using it to shred on gnarly singletracks, I'm planning to sell my XC bike and move on to build one of them AM hardtails. I reckon i could spend less than a 1000$ on a good Commencal HT build.

Really? Cool! I'm thinking of making one out of chinese carbon and second hand highish-end groupset parts. I think I can do that for about $1,500 USD. Would you consider 10kg as lightweight XC bike? What about a full-rigid lightweight XC bike, would that be viable if you're not going too fast?

what about bike geometry is it different(what kind of geometry bike need to have to call it a trail bike),and i saw some "hardtail trail" bikes,what do u think about them they are without rear suspension but alot cheaper than full susp trail bikes!
@patientestant8 жыл бұрын
I ride an old hardtail and race it in XC. Our course can be very bumpy (6-12+ inches tall bumps) and the descents are often on DH trails. I'm not super competitive, just having a good time. When I do get a new bike it will definitely be full suspension (FS). FS definitely helps climbing over obstacles especially when I am pushing so hard that it is hard to stand up. A rock that or bump that is a few inches can really kill momentum when climbing. If you don't have really bumpy trails, or you're not racing, etc, hardtails are a great way to save money.
@Forestamp20248 жыл бұрын
Yeh but im speaking about trail ones and XC ones,there is difference between hardtail trail and xc bike in geometry handlebars stem e.t.c so im asking what kind of hardtail is considered as a trail hardtail if u know what i mean! :)

If I really enjoy a downhill bike compared to a xc bike, would I still be able to effectively use a downhill bike on a flatter bike park?
@patientestant8 жыл бұрын
I would say no. The DH models for the companies I am familiar with have 8 inches of travel, weigh 40+ pounds (unless you pay a lot of money for premium), and have poor pedaling efficiency. An all-mountain or enduro bike would be fine though and they still have a lot of travel, but have the geometry and components for pedaling.

Why remote lock out? It adds weight because of the ose
@gmbn4 жыл бұрын
But it's easier and safer to lock out on the fly, immediately out of a technical section before hitting a climb or when you're shoulder to shoulder with another racer. It's difficult to remain at 100% in a race and operate something no remote like a lockout on a fork or shock. It's worth small weight penalty
