Thanks ayesha for bringing up Cioran's work that i have been procrastinating for quite sometime. The underlined lines that you read reminded me of an another pessimistic but funny quote, "Life is a disease transmitted by sex and always only ends with death" by the philosopher Zizek.
@low32428 ай бұрын
Zizek believes in chimeras like Progress and Socialism. He's is just another academic hack.

Thank you so much for this video. Every time I see people talk about this manga, they just say it’s about abuse. And obviously there’s abuse in the story. But if that was the only point, it could have ended way earlier… There was a lot in there and I’m glad someone is talking about it.

@TH3F4LC0Nx Yes I know what you mean, it's really tough. But then we read Cioran, Schopenhauer, Camus, Nietzsche, etc. and it feels a little comforting to know that "that" feeling is more common than we think. That "that" feeling is as normal as any other. That "that" feeling of dread, hopelessness, helplessness is not be got rid of, because maybe some of us can't shake it off. "Since we cannot change reality, let us change the eyes which see reality..."

I really love the fact that both of you actually discuss every book/author in depth instead of just recommending any of the book ❤ Very unique and makes me feel very satisfied/ motivated to read more ❤ P.S. Include your cats 🥹 ~ Fellow book and cat person 😊

I agree with you that cioeran s writings can be uncomfortable and sometimes I don't understand them . I readed his book The trouble with being born . I like that this man is honest but I first had some suicidal thoughts because he reveals my darkest thoughts and feelings..but at the end I just get into it.esistence can be terrifying .hope I die soon .thank youuu

Just discovered your channel and really loving your content. Glad youre covering some of the "not happy" philosophers. Cioran is barely a philosopher. Almost more of a poet or aphorist or...something? He's hard to classify. I feel like his insomnia is a big piece of understanding his perspective and overall mood.
@ReadADayClub8 ай бұрын
Thank you so much. :):) Cioran, one of the not-so-happy philosophers indeed. But yeah, I see what you mean... that Cioran is barely a philosopher; these are his aphorisms after all.

I think you would be interested in reading _The Last Messiah_ by Peter Wessel Zapffe. It's not a book but an essay. But it's also a very pessimistic work.
