The Trail Tech Voyager Pro adds the ability to leverage MB-Tiles custom maps on their device. This is just a quick run down on how to use them while using caltopo.com

This was the Vapor Pro update I had been waiting for. Easy to use and the MBTiles look and load great on the VP. I extract my gpx and load it in ride command if I want to share my ride but I've gone from using my phone apps and Garmin to using the VP exclusively for trail riding with MVUM trails.

One thing that I just learned also and not mentioned is that the save as file what ever you name it, it can not have any spaces. The folder to which you save it to on your card also can not have any spaces in the name. This was a great video though by the way, how started learning how to do it.

Yeah TT later identified that bug. They say it’ll be fixed in the next firmware. I don’t use spaces in the folder or file name. Also you cannot have two or more nested folders (ie: d:\folder\folder\file) currently. Thanks for bringing this up.

@@aaronmgray I was planning on having just 1 folder for the tiles. Theres not a limit to those is there?

@@aaronmgray Have you tried any of the other file types they show you can do? geopdf, geotiff. It is hard to find videos on how to do... I got lucky when I found yours.

@@onehotrodcar no. If you are in California I strongly encourage you to use California Trail Map files which are just excellent. They have a video on here which shows how to export portions of their large 3-4GB files. There’s also ways you can import JPEG files to Caltopo but I have no need. If you do, a friend of mine made a video on it.

So, following your video and it looks like CalTOPO requires the PRO $50 membership to export MBTiles? Is this accurate or am I missing something?

I have heard they changed to that new plan. Bummer for folks. I’ll say if you are in California don’t use caltopo and use California Trail map. Otherwise you may need to pay.. sorry dude

@@aaronmgray I have California Trail Maps.... I loaded the newest s.cal file and even though it says loaded.... it’s not showing up on my screen. It’s 4 GB. Is that too large to load up?

@@lasher15158 too big. Go on ctm KZbin channel and use qGis to select a portion and export. U can get real big , not like CalTopo. For me like most of San Bernardino in one file that loads fine. Hit me up on FB Msgr in SCDSR if you have questions on qGis.

Thanks a ton. Does anyone happen to know of a Caltopo + gGis walkthrough that lets you build MB tiles? No sign of anything noted below.

California trail maps covers it well. Look for his YT channel and then he has one on using qgis to export mbtiles. If you want to add google satellite info just search for that; there are videos on that. The problem with qgis would be what is your source with trail data. Where you getting that from?

@@aaronmgray Thanks Aaron. Just learning about geo tagged PDFs and such so working though the details now. Not sure of sources but starting with CalTopo and some of the other geo tagged data listed on the VP site.
