In this video we are showing you how to install a trailer hitch on a Mercedes W163 ML Class. It is very simple procedure and it should not take you more than 10-20 minutes to do it yourself.
In order to install the hitch you will need to remove the rear bumper cover. It is very simple procedure as well.
We got the hitch on eBay a few years ago for around $110. We have pulled 214k miles with it and it still works great.

I've seen some videos where they also install a couple of brackets to reinforce the bumper frame while on others such as this video, there is no mention of it. Could someone please shed some light on this. Thanks

There is essentially two versions, one without re-enforcements have a limit of 350 Pound Tongue Weight and 3500 Pound Towing, while adding them which is technically another version has a limit of 500 Pound Tongue Weight and 5000 Pound Towing.

the genuine Mercedes wiring harness has a connector which is for the brake lights and turn signals

Your telling people to Install a Hitch without the Frame brackets that you must have to do any Common towing ! extremely dangerous > Do not do this install you Must have the Mercedes Brackets or you well pull out the Rear Frame member if you tow anything heavy at all and this could result is serious Damage and injury / Simply do not do this install without the frame brackets / Also to not include the light wiring hookup for a trailer hook up is crazy very bad video and Dangerous
