What's up everyone! This event was a super fun collab with Arizona Stage. I provided all of the lighting programming, software and equipment while AZ Stage brought the Stage and all the lights. Sound was done through a different company. This was a large insurance corporate party in downtown Phoenix. Between the 3 of us we were able to set up the stage in 2.5 hours and tear it down in 1.5 hours.
Equipment:
SL100 Mobile Stage
10 Chauvet Intimidator Trios
12 Chauvet Intimidator 350 Beams (discontinued)
4 Chauvet Intimidator 375z IRC Spots
2 Chauvet Geyser P7s
2 Chauvet Pro Amhaze Stadium Hazers
1 Antari F-350 Fazer
1 Chauvet ShowXpress 512+ Lighting Dongle
Touch-Screen Laptop + Akai 64 Midi Controller
2 Chauvet Data Stream 8, 8 port DMX Splitter

That band sucks...horrible. What WAS nice was the audio and lighting. I paid MORE attention to that then them hyenas on stage cackling into the mic all night...lol Pretty freaking jacked up when all elements really nice and outshine the vocalist...lol You got my vote JB!!!

When the lighting outshines the performers, that's an issue!

Nice rig, but I dont like the programming. Im not a fan of this "flower power" approach, there might be some few songs where you can use the whole rainbow, but generally you should try to stick with a color palette of 2-3 colors, not more, per song. Colors should also only be used for effects, not for lighting up the artists. Stick with some static white light for that unless you want them to look like aliens. You should also have some static light from top/back for the artist, idealy fixtures with colors but also good white, white is the more important here. A no-go is to cut out your frontlight with chaser, strobe, etc., you never want your artists in the dark. Keep in mind that the guests are there to SEE/HEAR THE ARTISTS, NOT THE LIGHTSHOW. The light should only support the music, not compete with it. If you stick to these design rules, you cant do a bad lightshow (unless you perma-strobe or try to re-enact a seizure)

I would recommend getting a real console, what ever you like best, just a few ideas, but i woulve used a couple of those beams as washes, and stop with the movements, too much movement, do more fading intensity fx, and also keep a steady front light for the performers, but ya just trying to help 🤙

U should go onto a real console not the software that would make it with about 30 min programming if you have a showfile or 2 hours from scratch

There's a lot of debate whether I want to invest in a console or not and so far I don't want to spend the money on one. If I buy I want an MA2 or 3 Light. And so far, all the shows I've done, I have lots of time to prep and program. Although, If I go on tour, then yes I will buy a console for the sake of time management and reliability.
