Rean would had become a Divine Blade much sooner had he had a strong urge to become stronger from the begining like Loewe did. Rean didn't have any interested in becoming stronger till he met Class VII, but aside from that he has an extraordinary Rapid-Growth Rate.

That is actually why Ka-Fai dotes on him according to every character who knows them. Even Cassius acknowledged that their Master considers Rean his best disciple, and thus gave him the hardest form to master. Rean’s bad habits just never let him see that, to the point he thought he had no talent back in CS1.

This is one of the reasons why Rean was much more interesting than any other Trails protagonist so far: We saw him develope from the competent but scared boy, who had skills, but were too affraid to use them in the first game, into the confident warrior who decided to go his own ways in the second game, to the mentor with a lot to teach but still a lot to learn in 3, to finally being the confident warrior with a heart of gold and steel, who can now stand up to or even surpass the best in Ouroboros and Ironbloods. It had been a long time since i felt as involved in a main character as i did with Rean... One observation i made during the 4 games was that they basicly follow a steady progression of involvement and competence from both Rean and Class VII: CS1: Class VII is pretty much the observers on the outside looking in. They aren't really personally involved with any of the plots they encounter, and they don't really have the strength or experience to do much without help. CS2: Class VII is now directly involved in the events of the world, and even if they have gotten stronger, the game has to save the class more times than you can count, and even the Infernal Castle is just a series of small battles, before someone stronger takes over so you can go ahead. CS3: Rean and old Class VII is much more competent in every area, but Rean has to take care of a group of unproven fledglings, and even their connections in pretty high places haven't gotten them closer to understanding what's going on with all the plots around them. CS4: Class VII, old and new, is now at their peak for what can be expected of someone their age, and every one of them has their goals and ambitions set in stone, and now see the big picture of the conflict! I just love how each game makes the challenge and involvement more intense, but let's the group get stronger and more resolute as time goes on

I think Rean has the highest potential out of all the disciples of Yun Ka-fai. Throughout the whole erebonian arc, I think Rean has shown all forms. First form being Helix where there would be a rotary motion slash second form being gale which is cool third form which is Rean's flame impact and later dragon impact, and I think rean's s-craft, azure flame slash is included in this fourth form is a horizontal quickdraw dash slash which I think in Rean's case would be the autumn leaf cutter fifth form is an upper slash which is the morning moon which in Rean's case would be the crescent flash which is a diagonal upwards quickdraw motion slash sixth form is a projectile slash like Arios' rend, Anelace's s-craft and in Rean's case the arc slash in tocs I & II and the crimson slash in trails of cold steel III & IV seventh form as we can see would be the void, which is Rean's s-craft throughout the series and his spirit unification

Cassius and Arios failed as disciples because when tragedy hit them, they abandoned their way. Cassius lost his wife and completely abandoned the path of the sword. Arios felt responsible for his best friend's death that he basically submitted and gave up on himself. Even when Rean hits his lowest after the death of a loved one, Rean didn't abandon the sword or himself. He still clung to the smallest glimmer of hope.

@@soralight_x I mean, every other protag have gone through their own trials and issues and held strong. I wouldn't say that Rean is the only one that can endure what he had gone through. However, what separates Rean from Cassius and Arios is that Rean is how they are presented as. From the get go, Cassius and Arios are built up as people that were strong to begin with. So when their strength ended up failing them and they suffered tragedy and loss, it was too much to bear. Rean on the other hand was someone that was weak but became strong, so even when he was hit with tragedy, he was someone that still felt that there was a way through this.

nope.. all 8L1B practicioners know all styles. even the beginner level (sen1)... but to become a divine blade. you need to have a mastery of any one of the 8 styles. that 1 style of mastery can and will beat any intermediate level.. if youre lacking with just a bit. it will be like colonel richards. as he failed to become a master. hopefully anelace would break her slump. as she hit a road block. and got stuck into beginner/advance-ish level.

@@NMT06 CS3 had LESS voice lines IMO. 1 and 2 only got extra lines when Falcom gave Xseed the ok to mess with the code and record more lines for the PC version. The PS3 versions had the same issues CS3 and 4 did (because the partial dubbing is on Falcom itself).

Except it's not and I kept dying because rean wouldn't get the S-craft before demon rean and I'd just get annihilated, eventually ended up having to weaken demon rean, never used it throughout the whole of the 4 games and had to do it to win what's meant to be a scripted fight. @@natchu96 It was the big middle finger to translators. It basically had rough translations ranging from no edge sword, to Void Blade to Infinity Blade. Basically, any smart localization team would do what they did and go for a thematic reference rather than break their heads deciphering what translation was correct. There’s other actual issues with the localization more problematic than a fanciful thematic translation (even if the twilight comparison annoys you... do remember the big plan is called “The Great Twilight”).

ngl this was a cool moment but at the same time its a huge step backwards towards cassius's character development. in the 3rd, cassius was adamant about never picking up the sword again due to his newfound ideologies, which at the time i thought was disappointing because i thought it would be cool to see cassius use a sword. however, i understood his sentiment on why he started using a staff instead. in my eyes, trails of cold steel will never truly be canon to me

When Yun Ka-fai contacted Anelace, in Sky the 3rd, he was really contacting Cassius, using Anelace by Proxy. Now, I’m sure that Cassius and his former teacher aren’t on bad terms, but in the scene where Anelace duels it out with Richard, then asks if Cassius would use a sword again, he said a very powerful statement that I found to be quite respectable. “What’s important isn’t the weapon you chose, but what you choose it to do - what inspires you to take it up and use it to fight. The reason I chose to put my sword aside and take up a staff is those feelings have changed. That is all.” Also, I’m sure that there are plenty of other Divine Blades out there, so it doesn’t really make sense to me why Master Ka-fai was able to just ask Cassius for this favor and for Cassius to say, I guess I’ll use a sword again just because he was a recurring character from the Sky trilogy. It doesn’t matter that the sword was former Colonel Richards’s. The meaning of why Cassius uses a staff instead of a sword is to protect, and that using a sword does not or never did not share that same type of intent for him. That’s how I feel about all of this. I have many other thoughts on why I don’t feel fondly of Cold Steel, but since Cassius was the topic of this video, I’ll just leave it at that.
