Man, of all the horns, it had to be the harsh, extremely dischordant sound of a K5HL. Just listen to those two dominant chords that are fighting one another. Brutal for the ears.
@CornerFieldHobbyRailfan8 жыл бұрын
That K5HL was really long. But sounded good. Also to JMAN123436, thought's horns also use a 200 Gallon Air Compressor tank.

Its a bad air solenoid. They sometimes stick open and the horn goes off. It happened on my brothers motorhome in a parking lot. All i could do was wait for the 100 gallon air tank to drain air pressure. I then cut the air lines to the air horns and plugged them off so it could be driven.
@OneStudPuppy6 жыл бұрын
repeatman didn’t even think of that! Nice catch and how long did the 100 gallon tank take to empty?
@RoyalKingOfTheRails2 жыл бұрын
Just imagine if that happened in a quiet zone.
@OneStudPuppy2 жыл бұрын
Oh people would loose their mind. Yet in quite zones they call it a tragedy when someone is hit, but they chose to build and move into the houses around the tracks then demand quiet zones.. people are strange 🤷🏻♂️

Southern Pacific 2467 I’m not sure. mechanical ? stuck switch? Relay stuck in closed circuit? Odd, how it seemed they kept messing with the power up and down, revving up and down engine wise for a bit. P.S. Couldn’t reply to your message not exactly sure why.
@BenjaminEsposti6 жыл бұрын
I'm not even a railroad employee but I know that there is a hatch on the floor of the cab, in there is a manual shutoff valve to disable the air for the horn! It's easy ...

@TriStateRailfan7 жыл бұрын
and you wonder why LA changed their horn rule
@OneStudPuppy7 жыл бұрын
+Tri State Railfan ProductionsTM its more of a malfunction. I think The quiet zones and no horn cities are some of the worst ideas ever! People want to complain about the horn noises, then they want to complain about the accidents after they win on the noise issue. Most of the railroads around here have had housing built up around them years later. If they don't like the noise then people shouldn't move close to tracks. I've lived feet from tracks at one time.

@OneStudPuppy8 жыл бұрын
+ElectroSTRONG Network good to know. Always have had a interest in trains, this was unique with the air blowing the sound waves around at first sounded like a car being towed with a broken horn lol.. Funny how they kept reving up and down on the engine, (hard to catch on the video as the engine was so far down the track at first)
@Mkai20008 жыл бұрын
+OneStudPuppy The reving of the engine is most likely the High Idle that locomotives will sometimes go into. It might be the engine ramping up so it can give more juice to the generator so the generator can power the Air compressor because its losing so much air so fast, they are Diesel Electrics after all! :P
