I have been doing business with Will from Bore Buddy since he started. I run a standard AR lower with a Better Mag, mag adapter that makes it so you can use the M&P magazines and have all the functions of the AR work the way they are supposed to. I also use the dedicated upper with CMMG conversion bolt with Bore Buddy weight and spring sets along with the adapter to get rid of the adapter that comes on the standard conversion bolt and allows it to mate to my CMMG 17" barrel for 22LR. I have it set up to run 1100 to 1255fps 22LR. You can vary that with just your weights and the standard spring that comes with the conversion bolt. Accuracy is under 1 MOA at 50yds and will run a little over that at 100. I run a Primary Arms 3x mini optic that works really well out to 100. I went the full gambit when these units first started happening. I can say BB has the best thing going and with Better Mag and 15/22 MP's with the dedicated upper, its a flawless rig, that is accurate and goes bang 99.99% of the time and if it doesnt its ammo thats the reason. I buy 1100fps and under for my bolt guns and north of that for the AR22. Set it up for a particular FPS ammo and you will have no problems. Then throw in a Franklin Armory Binary, polish the sear, and have some fun!!

One note for people considering the bore buddy or cmmg bolt drop in - they can work great in your standard AR for steel challenge, but the bore buddy weight kit and buffer are typically needed to get the reliability up (to avoid bolt bounce). One downside is that they can be so quiet that shot timers can’t pick up the shots. That’s resolved by raising the sensitivity of the shot timers but often times at matches nobody knows how or wants to futz with the timer settings.

Josh, this was a really good vid. I would love to get a Bore Buddy or an entire JP, but being a resident of Illinois prevents both. Our new gun laws stink. I have an older grandfathered 15/22 which is really a fun little rifle to spend time with out on the range. That said, it's not remotely close to being a training tool for precision DMR. I really love how far you've come with the 22 stuff in such a short time. 22LR (Aguila Super Extra CWRN 40's) kept us shooting during Ammogeddon (pandemic) I bought a ton of it in 2019 for 3.3 cents a round along with a fair amount of CCI AR Tactical 22LR. The later is amazingly accurate for what it is. That was also 3.3 cents a round in 2019 from PSA. Oh how I wish I'd bought 10 cases more. Thanks for the info here. If we get a reversal in our goofy laws here, that Bore Buddy is likely the route I'll go due to the $$$.

Hi Josh, I have a Diamondback 556 AR15. I train a great deal with my M&P 15/22 , I replaced the firing pin and extractor with a Volquartsen kit for reliability. Modularity is very good, I can swap items out on my AR to my 15/22 and get somewhere close to my AR for feel and handling. Yes, distance is an issue, but 60yrds and under gives you a great platform for up close drills. Magazines are great for all your AR pouches, the main thing is learn and have fun!

I got a first run of Bore Buddy stainless match 16” barrels and I’m not super impressed. They only make them in 1:12 twist and they are sooooo picky about the ammo you shoot! Mine absolutely hates SK ammo, I’m talking 3” groups at 50 yards! CCI Standard Velocity do ok for the price. Águila bulk 36 gr do well for plinking pop cans. Federal Auto Match won’t even chamber. I have yet to find ammo I’d be happy with.
@BoreBuddyАй бұрын
You got one of our initial non-match barrels. Sporting chamber, pencil profile. Hit us up and send it back for warranty work, if it shoots poorly, you'll get a Gen 2 with the Bentz chamber in return. A bit of weight on the end of the pencil barrels can really tighten up groups.

I've run a Kriss DMK22C rifle for years. It's a great rifle, solid build, reliable and accurate. I bought it because I tried a S&W 22's and they were just like toys all plastic and llightweight. The Kriss rifle is as close to the real thing as it gets for feel and weight. I have the same triggers, stocks, grips and forearms as my AR. I don't think the JP as nice as it is, is worth 2.5X the price when it can't do anything the Kriss won't. Yes, I like JP rifles I have 2 of them.

I've been running Kriss DMK22c for PRS style shooting matches. My only complain is the longevity of the firing pin when paired with an after market AR trigger. My last firing pin failed less than 500 rounds with a triggertech diamond.

I am lucky and got 2 of the PSA 22lr uppers on their second batch run and they are both well well well over 10k rounds. I have no clue how many exactly probably in all honesty 50k plus. The only thing i have done to them is add in the S&W adapter to take the mp-22 mags and added a couple of the bore buddy upgrades like springs/ejector replacements when they wore out and the ext tube plug from bore buddy too. Bulletproof gun.
@mlone7Ай бұрын
I agree. I will never fork over the cheddar to get a JP but I do like them. I really like the gun I built. Best bang for the buck. I even added the same Ultradyne Apollo Max comp Josh has on his AR15 and actually got better accuracy out of it. The only down side is how much ammo I go through....LOL. Its nothing to go through a brick in a couple hours.
