RARE LUCK! 2 Trains Passing At Railroad Crossing Bypass! Train With DPU Shoving When Suddenly Another Train Comes The Other Way! Norfolk Southern Trains In Carlisle Ohio & CSX Fast Trains Between Miamisburg And Carlisle, Ohio. There are only about a half dozen trains a day and a couple short local switching trains on the Norfolk Southern Dayton District so to have two of them passing right where I was standing was really lucky. This is my best video ever to show how the bypass works. You can see cars going in both directions while the trains are speeding by over head. I was just hoping for one long NS train here. I got here in the morning and the first NS train came at 3:03pm followed by the second one minutes later. I didn't know what time it was when I was filming and thought it was a little earlier. I also filmed CSX trains on the nearby Toledo Sub. There was a 3 car train derailment on this day about a half hour south of me at New River Jct so I did not see any CSX trains pass by after the last one in this video which I filmed at 12:23pm. I put the CSX trains up after the NS trains because most ppl won't watch the full video.
The CSX trains were filmed just a couple of miles north of the railroad crossing bypass where both lines come together. This is between Carlisle and Miamisburg, Ohio at a 4 track railroad crossing with the additional CSX track just a short throw away. I kept wondering why no CSX trains were coming but then I found out about the small derailment that shut the line down. I left at 4pm after learning that and loaded 12 bales of hay onto my truck on the way home. Hay is up to 9 bucks a bale! I remember buying it for a dollar a bale years ago when I had cows.
Best frequencies to monitor for this location is 160.980 for Norfolk Southern Railroad, 160.230 for CSX and 452.9375 for End Of Train device ( EOT )

This actually is a good idea with having a bypass to keep the backed up traffic down if trains are a constant thing where main lines are located at and there's no room for an overpass. Grew up in Eastern New Mexico where Santa Fe and later BNSF has a main hub with multiple main tracks. Thanks for sharing this unique crossing.

If those motorists weren't in such a hurry they'd have seen 3 great covered hoppers former CNW as well as Pillsbury and Big Iowa Co-op. Plus out in the country that fantastic mix on the CSX gen frt including former woodchip cars hauling Coke and the older and odd design centerbeams. Rather surprising that the firm demolishing the PowerPlant didn't keep the track in considering how much scrap has to be moved out along with some of the bulkier equipment. Looked like one of those perfect days you want to bottle up and save. After the cold and snow it's a nice treat to be out so thanks for sharing the trackside findings

Thanks. I enjoyed that. Trains were a big part of my life growing up. My dad worked for the CPR for 32 years. His home station was in a small town and we lived in a village just about 3 km from there. Our home was built right beside the CNR tracks with trains, from steam to diesel, going through all hours of the day and night. I always lived in a city or town where there were railroad tracks and you could hear the train whistles, if not see the trains, all the time. However, on our last move the place we are in now is nowhere near a train track and I really miss hearing and seeing trains. ❤🚂

Grade crossings are the cheapest way to cross a road. Overpases (bridges) and underpasses (tunnels) are considerably more expensive. It's all about money. NS's pinch-penny attitude is what caused the East Palestine disaster. The problem is, every railroad is doing the same thing, sacrificing safety and crew awareness for extra short-term profit.

Hello JT. I saw a news report where Ohio was going to apply for adding a passenger corridor between northern Ohio then south toward Dayton, over to Columbus, then southwest to Cincinnati. When I’ve looked at passenger routes there’s a barrier between northern and southern corridors. Hi Chessie and JT! Neat video. That is a really unusual crossing. Why anyone would want to use it instead of watching a train, is a little baffling! Lol. We don't get many mid-train DPUs here in N. Idaho on BNSF. On the rear, fairly common. Several weeks ago a really long and heavily loaded coal train was headed west. It had 4 units on the front, 3 were BNSF and 1 UP. Mid train there were 3 units, 1 was BNSF, 1 was UP and 1 was Ferro Mex. On the rear were 3 more BNSF. Have never seen that much power on a coal train thru here. It was cool to see! Have a good one!

I’ll bet you a bunch of those people going through that narrow road don’t have a clue that it is 2 way. Nice catch with the 2 trains passing each other. Hey, that CSX didn’t blow the horn at all for that unprotected crossing. Thanks for taking us along.

I’ve always loved the sound of trains, you know goods were being moved around the US and people were working hard to keep our country sustained. I have to say why are people not getting arrested or fined for writing on these cars. This is so delinquent. Thanks for your video.

Neato! The first NS train to Cincinatti was booking and such a groovy job of that crossing with the underneath vehicle tunnel engineering at its best. More than likely the absence of the DPU's I believe depends on the grades and train lengths? DPU we see u!

When I lived in St. Lawrence Co. NY, I used to hear the freight trains at night in the distance, especially in winter when there was snow. If I couldn’t sleep I’d just lay there and wait for them. If the 4:20 AM came through, I’d just get up early, go dressed under the covers, and get the cook stove going in the kitchen.

That is so cool! Especially when a train is so long it will make you late to wherever you're trying to go. I've never seen such a long train or a creative crossing such as this.

Look at all those cars going around the bypass, nope not rail fans. 🚗🚕🚙 CSX got the hammer down, thats a neat spot with all those tracks, I'd love to live at that house on the top of the hill. "NO DEFECTS" Super Duper Video !! 👍👍👍
