My mom suddenly passed away when I was 13. She loved this song so much that I got the lyrics "tracing her way through the constellation" tattooed on my shoulder when I turned 18. Now I'm 28 and I literally just found out this song was written because his mom passed away. I've always felt a strong connection to this song, and now even more so.

My mom’s mom died in Nov. 1998 from lung cancer. I was only 3 years old but I vaguely remember seeing her in the nursing home as she was dying. A few years later in 2002 I heard my sister blasting this song through her stereo system then I found out what it was about and ever since then I have dedicated this song to my grandmother :/

I lost my mom 2 days after Mothers Day 2022... I have always said my mom would be free, flying and visiting all of her favorite places she love when she was here was with us.. My mom is tracing the constellation as she journeys through time and space free to be.

After 9 years as a drug addict, with love and support of our family, and several rehab facilities, my beautiful daughter is clean 4 years. This song reminded me of her journey from hopelessness to a beautiful future. She is happy and full of life. Thank you Train for this beautiful song which I would sing to her , and for keeping hope in her life and ours. God bless you. Donna

You know a song is truly great when all it needs is a voice, an acoustic guitar (and 3-4 chords) and it's still magic. A real rock anthem for the early 21st century, love this song.

There's something about this song that always brings me back to reality, back to myself. Throughout the years I always get the same sweet feeling listening to this song. There's just something about the way he describes her that is so profound and beautiful.

Isn’t music amazing. Everyone has different interpretations. This song always made me think in kind a spiritual cosmo type way. Hard to put into words, but it always gave me the image of our loved ones sailing across the galaxy and the stars, constantly moving as we do, over time becoming one with the universe. It always gives me a mental image of the stars, Milky Way, and all planets inhabited. Like the soul is taking an adventure across the galaxy.

I’m sitting on my sofa bawling my eyes out right this moment. My mom/best friend passed suddenly and unexpectedly three years ago. Fortunately & unfortunately I got to be there with her through it. Horrible and beautiful at the same time. She got to see me born into this world and I got to see her born into her beautiful afterlife. Funny how you can be so happy for someone and have incredible pain at the same time. Peace to anyone who reads this!🕊🌞🕊

The song portrays a man wondering whether a woman's journey to find herself still leaves room for him, whom she had left behind. Lead singer Patrick Monahan has stated that the song was inspired by his late mother, who had died after a struggle with cancer, and that the opening lines "came to [him] in a dream."

I’m curious cause I might know the meaning but can I ask why you put brackets around him?
@Lycanthromancer15 жыл бұрын
@@Spinach_Dip93 Because the original quote was, "came to me in a dream." He changed it to fit with the sentence grammatically, and the brackets show what change was made. It's a pretty common way of doing business with quotations.

Now that she's back in the atmosphere With drops of Jupiter in her hair, hey, hey, hey She acts like summer and walks like rain Reminds me that there's a time to change, hey, hey, hey Since the return from her stay on the moon She listens like spring and she talks like June, hey, hey, hey Hey, hey, hey But tell me, did you sail across the sun? Did you make it to the Milky Way to see the lights all faded And that heaven is overrated? Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star- One without a permanent scar? And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there? Now that she's back from that soul vacation Tracing her way through the constellation, hey, hey, hey (mmm) She checks out Mozart while she does tae-bo Reminds me that there's room to grow, hey, hey, hey (yeah) Now that she's back in the atmosphere I'm afraid that she might think of me as plain ol' Jane Told a story about a man who was too afraid to fly so he never did land But tell me, did the wind sweep you off your feet? Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day And head back to the Milky Way? And tell me, did Venus blow your mind? Was it everything you wanted to find? And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there? Can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken? Your best friend always sticking up for you even when I know you're wrong Can you imagine no first dance, freeze dried romance, five-hour phone conversation? The best soy latte that you ever had and me But tell me, did the wind sweep you off your feet? Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day And head back toward the Milky Way? And tell me, did you sail across the sun? Did you make it to the Milky Way to see the lights all faded And that heaven is overrated? And tell me, did you fall for a shooting star, One without a permanent scar? And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself? Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na And did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day? Na na na na na na na na na na na na na na And did you fall for a shooting star, fall for a shooting star? Na na na na na na na na na na na na na na And now you're lonely looking for yourself out there.

Got the same buzz from REM's 'What's the frequency Kenneth?' not long ago too...I absolutely HATED that song and REM originally, now I can't get enough of it/ them. Funny how artists/songs you absolutely loathed hearing back in the 90s can grow on you almost to the point of becoming an obsession. Oh well...better late than never I suppose 😂.
