People need to understand that this is meant to be a light acoustic rendition. He's not going to hit the same notes at the original recorded version. But that along with the condition of his voice should be enough reason for him not to go all out on this acoustic session. His voice is still good but not in the same shape that it used to be.. so cut him some slack.

Musicians give different versions of their songs all the time. This is, to people who know music, a quiet calm version of the song. You don't need to be a psychic to know that's his intention, it's obvious. He likely cannot hot the high notes, yeah, but that doesn't matter when it's this kind of performance. He doesn't need to for this particular version. The arrogance of some people, remarkable, funny and tragic.

As someone who writes and plays music, I'd say that I love and feel the music enough that it's still enjoyable to play a song that I've played 1000 times before. Part of being a musician is seeing the enjoyment that your music brings to others... and if that means playing a song that's been overplayed, so be it.

It can be annoying to have to tune my acoustic to BDDDDD every time I want to play this, but damn it’s worth it. Beautiful song.

I guess that no one notice he has one string left you can see it 1:15. Awesome performance

There is a personal touch when he sings this song, personally I think he is awesome. My boyfriend took me to see Goo Goo Dolls at the House of Blues in Boston, Massachusetts. We went down there from the White Mountains in New Hampshire. They did a wonderful job and John Rzeznik was incredible.

Yea, it sounded like that once, but you/we misheard. The last time he def said WHEN, he's just singing under his breath.
