i remember hearing that back in the late 90s that when city of angels came out, johnny saw a screening of the film and was so moved and inspired by it that he went back to his hotel room and wrote this song in one night....

Alt tuning is like another language (for most standard guitar players)....and when it's expressed like this it is very pleasing....I've read John put this together when asked to put a song on the movie while he was going through some sh**...What a freaking result !!! Shit....I saw this in concert several times when it was new....now it's Classic Rock. Damn....I've been through this too many times.
