Excellent video, and yes, "Verspätung" is sadly a crucial word when navigating German trains... Well done, Danke Sir!

Very cool! I recently finished a journey around Europe which was unbelievable! I put videos on my youtube but a camera just can't capture the moment!

In Switzerland you have to show the "Billet" (ticket - Ticket) to the "Kondukteur" (ticket inspector - Schaffner) und you have to wait on the "Perron" (plattform - Bahnsteig (But to say for example "plattform 5" we say "Gleis 5", like in germany)). Those words above are just those which are correct german words according to Duden, so they are swiss standard german, and not swiss german (ok we use them too in Swiss German, but it's hopefully clear what I mean)

Vielen Dank für die Videos. Did you learn English at school or through independent study? Do you also speak French?
@DefinitelyGerman8 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Florence! I was taught (British) English at school, it's a standard subject at almost all German schools nowadays (even for elementary schools and many kindergardens). But of course I also practice and improve my skills by watching movies in English or just doing videos like this on KZbin! :D It's a pretty beneficial thing, isn't it: You guys can improve your German and I can improve and keep my English fresh! :D

PS: No, I don't speak French, but Vuko, MelleAthalee and I made a French challenge! You can find 3 respective videos on each our channels. :)

Dave, someday you may want to explain when to use nächster, or nächstes or nächster or also nächstes. I used to see signs on the highway that stated where was the nächstes WC and in this video I now see signs on the trains that tell you what the nächster halt is, and of course, you end each show with "...bis zum nächsten Mal." To me, each of these words seems to be interchangeable, but because they are each spelled differently I assume they have particular usages.

Thanks for the video suggestion, Mark! I'll make a video about that soon! :)
