I wouldn’t say this ticket is meant for long distance travel. But it comes in very useful for regular German people who already have and use a monthly ticket for their region. As a tourist I will visit Germany starting from Hamburg in June. In addition to that I would like to see some cities like Berlin and Munich. Do you recommend this ticket to me?
@Louy9 Жыл бұрын
@@kad1820 It really depends on what your intention for the ticket is. If you want to just have a metro/ bus ticket for when you’re in those towns and if you use a lot of public transportation within these cities for a longer time, maybe even visiting close by towns like Potsdam, then yes. But for traveling between Hamburg to Munich or Berlin I wouldn’t recommend it. For that I recommend buying ICE tickets several weeks in advance so they aren’t as expensive.
@Psi-Storm Жыл бұрын
@@kad1820 Daily public transport tickets for the cities you visit are already around 10€ a day, so you basically get the 49€ ticket for free. The Hamburg-Berlin route is 4 hours with regional trains, so totally doable. If you want to go to the Baltic sea from Hamburg thats also an option. For Berlin-Munich and back to Hamburg i would book super saving tickets for the ice next month.

Just to point it out: for tourists this ticket won't be as convinient as one may think. if you stay in a city, a 6 or 7 days pass may be cheaper than 49 euro (e.g. Berlin LGBT Pass - that anyone can buy in reality - is ~ 35 euros for 6 days and much less for 3 days). If you travel between cities, if you book in advance, you can get ICE train rides for euro 29... Doing Berlin to Frankfurt or Berlin to Munich by regional train is just a stupid way of wasting valuable tourist time. If you do a trip seeing two cities stayin 2-3 days in each, it will be more convinient therefore to get an ICE train ticket for the long distance and get more existing day passes for the two cities. In fact, from a turist POV, the D-Ticket seems very much to benefit Deutsche Bahn than the customer. And if you travel europe on an EUrail pass, it gets even worse since germany will be just one or stops of the trip and travelling between them will be covered by the EUrail pass already.
@Psi-Storm Жыл бұрын
Daytickets for the inner cities are already 8-10 Euros. If you use just one regional train for a daytrip on the visit, the 49€ ticket is cheaper. For example Hamburg-Lübeck, Frankfurt the Rhine region, Munich to Berchtesgaden, or even Hamburg-Berlin which isn't that bad.
@patrickhanft Жыл бұрын
All true and still if you visit more than one city, paying for daily or weekly passes more than once or twice and needing to adjust to different borders of their respective Verkehrsverbünde might often be more expensive than a D-Ticket, it certainly will not be as convenient as the D-Ticket will be. I have been on an interrail trip to France and Spain for two weeks and I certainly paid more than 49€ for only public transport without regional trains in addition to my already existing interrail ticket (with which I used the regional trains of course) in six different cities. Something like the D-Ticket would have been great even with already having a valid rail ticket.

I was in Germany almost all summer 2022 and I have to say the 9€ ticket was a blessing, and yes, it incentivated tourism, I went to cities that weren't in my itinerary, just because I could travel there very cheap. Public transport in Germany is espectacular, but it was very expensive, my last 2 weeks without the 9€ ticket were pretty pricey, even buying the weekly ticket. That said, I am also aware of the lack of planning and logistic issues thare arose from this ticket, one time I was stranded in Köln for 90 minutes because there was no train conductor, and the last weekend of the summer, coming from Hamburg was pretty intense, also I'm aware that that's part of the reason the DB employees are protesting at this moment. But this is a good idea, specialy for Germany's energy transition, German citizens told me the public transport was good, but they'd rather use their car because it was cheaper. Now to solve the logistics issue of higher train demand, who knows? Maybe they'll hire me because they need more people haha.

If they had just kept the concept of the 9€ ticket which could simply be bought at a ticket machine it would have been a piece of cake but with their contract idea and forcing people to use digital solutions which they dont want and all it's kinda getting messy.

I'm travelling to Germany in July this year. I'm flying to Frankfurt and thinking of travelling via train to Berlin. I will be staying in Berlin for 15 days. Should I purchase the D-ticket? Will I be able to find local trains to Berlin from Frankfurt in which I can use this D-ticket?

i'm trying to plan a trip to de and really want to buy this ticket - but there is no way to select the u.s. as i'm trying to enter my data to create an account. what do i do?

Are you able to reserve a seat for a specific service (for added cost?) or is it first come first to get a seat?😊 ummm!?
@DWTravel Жыл бұрын
First one there gets a seat. You can't reserve seats in these regional trains, only in the more expensive ones like ICEs.

Hello, any tips on how to plan longer trips inside Germany but with trains that are included in the D-Ticket? DB website is not very friendly to do it, multiple sections trips are difficult to plan. Thanks!

Very promising for Students. Isn’t it a good idea to combine it with Musea Tickets next year? Good for cultural exchange!

I am traveling from India on tourist visa to Germany. Reaching 6th July. Can I book €49 ticket from India for month of July.
@DWTravel Жыл бұрын
Yes, you can - but as it's a monthly subscription, you'll need to cancel it as soon as you buy it. 👉www.bahn.com/en/offers/regional/deutschlandticket

Stuttgart's Local system was so worse and more costly. 2-3 Zones cost 80-90 Euro per month. With 49 it's reduced by almost 50%.

With this ticket, will the travel be free for regional trains or discounted throughout the month?
@DWTravel3 ай бұрын
With the ticket you can use regional trains throughout Germany as much as you want throughout one month without extra pay.

Just give us the flat rate ticket for the entire country and enable us to buy it in any store or kiosk. I dont want to deal with no god damned "subscriptions" or paperwork or "requests".

Is it basically the 9€ ticket at a higher price?
@DWTravel Жыл бұрын
One could say so.
@t.t.37539 ай бұрын
Not really no. The 9€ ticket was easy: no subscription no pre-buy required. Just buy it instantely at any ticket machine. For the 49€ you need a subscription.

When you have the D-ticket , do you need to purchase tickets and later claim them you can use the to get tickets ?
@DWTravel Жыл бұрын
No, you need only the D-ticket. You cant't set off other tickets against it. Was that your question?

Can this ticket be used on EC171 or so from Dresden to Prague , by DB? It is it limited to the borders of Germany??
@DWTravel5 ай бұрын
You can use it only for regional trains, not for EC, IC or ICE. And yes, with exceptions it is limited to Germany.
@NoOne-fe8qt5 ай бұрын
@@DWTravel Thank you. I will research further if there are any RE, RB, RJ label trains from Dresden to Prague where this card might still be applicable. Slower trains but not by much for a 2 hour journey.
